A magical hideaway overlooking the river Boyne

It’s a beautiful little cottage that takes you back in time to the old world. The tree at the back of the house was magnificent. The real stone walls of the house and cute doors and Iron work on the stairs is amazing. Also walking along the track to Newgrange was cool. The outdoor patio with a little fire pit was great in the evening. We even saw a hedgehog and 4 deer in the field across the river Boyne!

We followed the heating instructions in the house manual for the bathroom shower but unfortunately it never worked properly even after resetting it. So we didn’t shower and my dear mother had to shower in cold water. If this was winter it wouldn’t have been practical this is my only complaint. When I visited in November this was not an issue.

Auf den vielen Reisen, die meine Frau und ich oder wir in Familie unternommen haben, haben wir lange keine so einzigartige, magische und begeisternde Unterkunft erlebt. Allein schon der Weg dorthin ist voller Magie. Man fährt auf einem Pfad bis zu einer steilen schmalen Brücke. Von dort läuft man knapp 75 m bis zum Cottage. Direkt gegenüber sieht man die Boyne, ein ziemlich breiter Fluss, und dahinter weite Felder. Wenn man Glück hat, sieht man morgens auch Wild dort grasen. Das Cottage selbst ist extrem liebevoll eingerichtet. Man kommt rein, rechts ist das Wohnzimmer, links die Küche und in der Mitte geht eine Treppe hoch, von der 2 Zimmer abgehen und dazwischen das Bad. Man ist sofort versetzt in eine völlig heile Welt. Hier findet man Ruhe und Gelassenheit und Natur pur. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten rund herum sind einmalig. Man kann sehr schöne Ausflüge unternehmen. Wir haben uns in diesem Cottage sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Gastgeber sind übrigens sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden

Magical hideaway is really an experience. Stunning location, breathtaking views, history on your doorstep.

Finding it is a bit tricky. Google Maos/ Waze takes you a couple of metres beyond the entrance gateway. Could be useful to point to the "red daub of paint on the gate"/ "opposite the tiger sculpture".

The location for us was perfect, very peaceful setting and stunning views.

We were not able to have a shower for a few days! Unfortunately there is no power in the shower and the water was too hot. A handyman arrived unannounced, it would have been nice to have been asked about this prior to his arrival. We loved the stay but for the stay a shower should be included as an option.
