Great location, great food, partly unfriendly personnel

Great location, we had a modest but totally ok room. We also had great authentic food/wine for dinner.

As opposed to an excellent dinner, where we had been served by professional and extremely friendly waiters, some of the breakfast personnel were not at all welcoming (if not to say a rude). The fact, that they are loudly complaining about colleagues in the presence of guests and using private mobiles while other guests are waiting, does not really help to write a better review.

A wonderful time. A beautiful place. I would like to be there very often.

It was a truly unique stay. I booked a dormitory, but it was perfectly adequate for me, as I planned to return to the hotel only to sleep. The room was relatively small and modestly furnished, but very clean, warm and pleasant. The bunk beds are a bit low, but very comfortable, with clean bedding and fragrant towels. It was off-season, so there were very few people in the hotel, so it was very quiet and cosy condition. The ataff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I am extremely grateful to them for all their kindness and service. Breakfasts: simple but delicious. I am extremely grateful to them for all their kindness and service. The restaurant also offers delicious food with local specialities at reasonable prices, as well as delicious coffee. Location: excellent – a bus stop right next to the hotel and the Rhaetian Railway station just a few minutes' walk away (although in icy and snowy conditions, it may take considerably longer). It is easy to get here from early morning until late evening, and it is an excellent base for trips to the direction of Pontresina and St. Moritz, as well as to the Poschiavo Valley and and Cavaglia in Italy. Also an excellent stop on the Albula Railway Line, with the option of taking the Bernina Express. It is also a great place to stay if you are planning mountain trips to Diavoleza and climbing the surrounding peaks, as well as the Morteratsch Glacier. And the views? Breathtaking! What a wonderful place! What a wonderful adventure it is to eat breakfast and start the day with such a magnificent view outside the window... I will often think back to this place, and if circumstances allow, I will definitely return for more stays.

The shared room was very basic, typical hostel conditions, with a small window overlooking a power pylon. When humidity was high, you could hear the characteristic crackling of electrical wires. The lack of a key to the room was somewhat inconvenient – it was always open. It would also be nice to fix the backlighting on the light switches on the stairs, because they are difficult to locate in the dark ;-)

A unique location with great view. Big room and bathroom. The food in the restaurant was very tasty. From here you can do trekking or cycling or go to the Bernina express and enjoy a ride.

The breakfast could be a bit richer with croissants and some more homemade cakes.

A splendid stop-over right at the foot of all the trails

The location is the one thing you will wish to stay here : close to all the walks around. It is a simple place with small rooms and little to brag about, except for the location ! Breakfast was simple but sufficient. But the views - the views make you come here.

Magical to be in a place like this

Very very nice location. The snow on the path was packed by a snow mobile so walkable. Not really recommended though if you are carrying luggage. They can also arrange for you to be picked up at the next train station. The one that is closest to the hotel is a 600m walk, but uphill and with snow was a bit challenging. (I'm telling myself I was so out of breath because of the altitude) The hotel has a rustic charm, the staff was nice. The radiator didn't get too warm, they should maybe bleed the radiators and let the air out. When I came to the restaurant for dinner & breakfast they sort of directed me upon entry to a solo table. I found that a bit too strict, it took away the possibility of joining a table or other people to share a meal with in this very shareable environment. Woke up in the middle of the night to gaze on the moonlit mountains. It was wonderful!

After we made the booking communication with hosts were excellent. We did not read the details carefully (clearly stated on booking.com - so it was our fault) but in winter you can hardly reach on foot from the train station, but we were offered a free transfer (appr 10 min by car). Breakfast and dinner was good. Location is amazing, especially in winter, if this type of environment you are looking for (at Bernina Pass, surrounded by beautiful high mountains, deep snow). In the morning it was extremely cold but at around 09:00 the sun was shining and I will never forget the view and the feeling. Great locations nearby (Morteratch Glacier for example one of the best excursion in my life).

Great location - want to go back.

The location is great. I got some great photos overnight from my hotel room down to the lake. If you are travelling by train and have luggage, consider getting off at Bernina Diavolezza and getting the bus. I believe this is the recommendation for the winter when the path down to the station can be impassable due to snow, but I would recommend it anyway. I'm already planning to go back in the winter. The food is good and tasty.

For Mountain lovers more than cities tourists !

The room looked like a little chalet and we had a view on the glacier! Very nice! It is situated at one of the most wild/beautiful places of switzerland, and 30min with the amazing train of the bernina line until St-Moritz. The restaurant is also good, but for big eaters, I recommend taking an appetizer.

The water came from cold to warm, to cold. But what do you want, it is Mountain hostel, that is normal.

We had a fantastic time up at the Bernina pass! It’s the perfect place to enjoy the mountains.
