voco Leicester by IHG

Not enough staff at check in at whet was going to be an obvious pinch point. Service was appalling in the restaurant with multiple diners complaining at lack of service staff. Exactly the same situation later in the evening.

The room was generally clean but areas of the bathroom could have been improved upon, and some of the decor was starting to peel. The staff were very pleasant and we didn't use the bar or restaurant. Happy with the air conditioning. The main issue with this hotel is the lack of on-site parking and the poor directions/wrong postcode for the alternatives - VERY unsatisfactory (may cause me not to stay again in what is otherwise a very nice hotel).

I wasnt able to operate the Ac/ heating ..but the room was very comfortable ..

What a lovely hotel! such friendly staff, great central location, fabulous breakfast - and my what a room! We paid a bit more to have a free-standing bath in the room and it was so worth it. So many cool touches like the Marshall Amp-style mini fridge, cool art & books and funky furniture. Loved it!

Clean and modern room & ensuite. Great design and space. Wish we could have stayed longer. Helpful staff. We didn't get to use the restaurant but it looked good. A great location for attending an event at King Power stadium.

Excellent hotel and great location. The hotel itself is fairly new and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff is great and restaurant is excellent. Will definitely stay here again.

Made for its purpose. Bar is great. Food is mediocre. Atmosphere is good. Rooms are nice.

Stayed for two nights in a suite with hot tub, not worth the money decking area and outside furniture filthy, green slippy decking, furniture stained, hosepipe left switched on into the hot tub left water cascading and flooding the patio. Coffee machine dirty and didn’t work just poured out a cm of coffee into the cup, then the rest of the water poured out the back. The tea and coffee holders were absolutely minging, debris and hair in the bottom. Then there was the sticky residue down the sides of indoor furniture. Breakfast day 1 pulled out a sachet of sugar out of the dispenser and it was stuck to old wet sugar at the bottom of the dispenser. Breakfast day 2 cut my egg open to find a hair cooked into the yolk and white, complained to manager the plate was taken away and he came back and said he didn’t think the hair had been cooked all the way through ( I didn’t understand what he meant ) but I refused anything else as it put me off eating anything. I’ve just been reading about IHG cleaning protocols - all I can say is that Leicester Voco hadn’t read theirs! Watching the staff in the breakfast area cleaning tables by flicking crumbs off with a dry blue cloth that was kept in their apron just about sums it up. Final straw, our key cards stopped working at 10:45, how do I know this? Because you have to use your card to activate the lift, we were trapped in the lift with our luggage going from level 1 to 4 for 15 minutes it wouldn’t allow us to get down to the ground floor

Not impressed with paying top prices for a lovely hotel but then to have to drink expensive drinks (wine and Baileys)?out of plastic cups because it’s “match day”when I am actually sitting in the hotel bar! Apparently if you have a meal in the restaurant you can bring your drinks through (in glasses). Completely ridiculous.

Room was really good, comfy and excellent bathroom/ shower. Service at dinner was poor, every table around us was served before us even tho we ordered before them. We had 11am check out in the morning but come 9.10am we had the cleaners scratching and knocking the door which woke us up, ignored it but was now awake, then by 10 am they were back knocking again, we answered the door and they asked what time we were leaving as they needed to get on! Told them ‘polity’ that we had 11 am check out.

Very nice hotel and dining /bar area.

Visited for my daughter's wedding, so a very special occasion. Positives: near the area we wanted to be. Parked at the nearby multi-storey as on site parking is limited. Had booked a suite which was nice. Check in and out was smooth. Bed comfortable. Shower nice and hot and pressure was great! Breakfast was ok. Negatives: Two adults in a room need more than one bath towel! It would be nice to have more than two teabags in your room - sometimes you need more than one cuppa each! Shower drain was very blocked and shower flooded out the low level tray over bathroom floor. I wanted a soak in the beautiful in room tub - BUT we couldn't get the pop up plug to stay down - very disappointing when one of the rooms selling points is the bathtub. We passed info on to reception and the offered us a free upgrade next time - to be honest I would rather have had a small refund as we rarely travel to Leicester & stay in a hotel. Sadly it all felt a bit "budget" for a non-budget stay.

Amazing views from our terrace of the tiger’s stadium. Room nice but a little tired. Bathroom door had a dent in so looked shabby. Cigarette butts on terrace. Shower great. Missed the Leicester cheese biscuits that we used to get in room. Breakfast okay. Difficulty finding any staff to order from menu. No vegetarian sausages available. Cold scrambled eggs. A little disappointed to be honest. Overall a good stay but room for improvement.

Air con was great in the room. Only 15 min walk from Leicester O2 Academy. Opposite the Tigers ground.
