Great location, decent breakfast, communicative host

The loft is connected to the main room and the stairs up to the loft were steep.

Breakfast could have been a bit better. Very basic

The location was excellent , although not easy to get to. It really is an Airbnb - not a staffed facility - which is was not clear to me when I booked. As a solo traveler I really needed more help given the challenging nature of accessing the property in the sassi zone.

Communication was very poor and questions often weren’t answered. I had specific questions regarding being dropped off and picked up by a private car that was pre-arranged for me that I needed to know ahead of time and despite my asking it was not communicated to me how challenging this would be. They refused to answer specific questions ahead of time which made it pretty stressful to arrive and depart. I also had been told I could leave luggage there when I arrived before check in time and at the last minute was told I couldn’t leave luggage. They suggested a luggage storage facility which I then had a car drop me to but then had to figure out getting to the accommodation from as it was not walkable with luggage. When I asked for help they just didn’t answer me. I actually thought for a while I was going to have to find somewhere else to stay and just eat what I had paid them. As someone who had been leading yoga retreats around the world for 18 years (and I was in fact off to lead a retreat after my time in Matera )I found them remarkably unhelpful.

The accommodation is full of charm and ideally located, the roof terrace is magnificent, and everything can be visited on foot.

The accommodation is difficult to access with large suitcases. The breakfast could be improved compared to the hotels of previous days.
