Sax Barisano

Our host Aldo and Rosa are such a warm, sweet, and genuinely kind-hearted couple. They made us feel incredibly welcome and cared for, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, helping us with transportation, giving us thoughtful advice. Their hospitality felt so personal and sincere, it’s the kind of warmth and generosity that makes this trip truly memorable. The house itself has a cozy, homey feeling, the location is right in the heart of Sasso Barisano, with beautiful views and easy access to explore the Sassi. Being able to step outside and immediately immerse ourselves in the charm and history of Matera was wonderful. We would absolutely love to stay here again if we return to Matera, and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay with hosts who truly care about their guests, this is the place.

Loved the hosts we were picked up and dropped off to our car. Breakfast was amazing Rosa made a beautiful table with so much food.

Loved it all but there was a heat wave and the air conditioner struggled.

Perfect Position Perfect Place to stay

This is what Italian hospitality looks like. We were so well taken care of by the owner. He met us to show us where to park and drove us with all of our luggage to the sassi. He gave us all the tips about things to do. The accommodation was so sweet and in an amazing location walkable to everything. Breakfast was incredible- I just wish I didn't get full so I could have kept eating the amazing cheeses, salami, pastries, fruit, juice, cappuccino, you name it. I just wish I spoke better Italian to communicate a little better but we got by just fine. We really felt like part of the family.

I wouldn't change a thing.
