    Good location. Staff will help you carry your cases up and down the steep stairs. Coffee machine in foyer was a nice touch during office hours. Gave us the boost to get up the stairs. Go for the lower floors. There’s another hotel with a restaurant for breakfast just next door. Walk from station is a bit much with suitcases because the sidewalk is uneven and narrow and bikes are deadly so take a tram or uber.

    Amazing for the price! You’re right on the canal so the views are great! They provide water and cookies that are delicious! The space is small but my parents and I made it work, we loved it!

    The Good: Prime Location The location of Hotel Hegra is absolutely unbeatable. Situated right on the Herengracht, you are in the heart of the canal belt, within walking distance of almost everything Amsterdam has to offer. For exploring the city, you couldn't ask for a better home base. The Not-So-Good: Room 17 Noise Issues Unfortunately, my stay was significantly impacted by the noise levels in Room 17. If you are a light sleeper, be aware that this room sits right on the street level. Between the city traffic and people passing by, it felt very exposed. Furthermore, the room is positioned near the hotel stairs, which are quite steep and narrow (typical for historic Amsterdam buildings). You can hear every guest coming and going at all hours. To top it off, there is a coffee machine located right in front of the door. The constant grinding and frothing sounds from other guests making drinks made it nearly impossible to have a quiet moment. Tip for Travelers: If you stay here, try to request a room on a higher floor away from the common areas and the street to enjoy the great location without the disruption.

    I had the top room so I had the worst of the stairs which were three flights and extremely steep and narrow. Very basic room, tiny sink impossible to wash face. Not great but staff friendly and excellent location. Likely better if get lower floor room!
