A gem that needs some tlc

The location was perfect for my mum and dad, who are in their 80s and can not walk very far, the size of the downstairs was perfect.

We have stayed in bakewell quite a few times, and unfortunately, this property has been the worst. The property was not very clean with lots of cobwebs and dirty glasses, and the bath was also dirty. The blind in the bathroom was full of mould, and we didn't find the property very cosy. In my opinion, it needs a little bit more attention to detail. This is the most expensive property we have stayed and the only one that didn't have a welcome basket, as in butter, milk, bread, homemade cakes, and wine. There were no logs for the Woodburner. The boiler and heating were not working when we arrived.. We feel a little disappointed.

Shared driveway parking caused hostility with other guests as we believed we had sole use of it.

The central location was great.

Poor welcome pack. No milk just a few tea bags and coffee sachets. It states parking for one vehicle, however, it does not say that the small driveway is shared with another property which caused hostility with other guests. The dining chairs and sofa both need a good clean. Some light bulbs not working. No literature on how to use appliances. Log burner appeared for show only, as no logs/kindling, matches, fireplace was completely bare of an accessories.

Great location in Bakewell but cottage needs sorting out as does the price

Location near centre of Bakewell was the only good point about the cottage

On arrival there were three full wheelie bins and six large bin bags outside the property and these were not removed for 5 days by a man with a van. There was no pack with instructions how to use the cooker, TV , washing machine etc. so we didn’t use these all week - thank goodness for my iPad. This is the first cottage I have ever stayed in where there was no pack with any details. There was no micro wave, dish washer and although there was an iron there was no ironing board. Upstairs was worse. There was only 1 small chest of drawers and the knob fell off one drawer when I tried to open it - it seemed glued shut. The door knobs in both room both bedrooms fell out when we tried to close them. There were no wardrobes, only hooks, and no coat hangers. I had to phone the office to get some brought round. The bedside light had its fitting broke off and had just been balanced. This was not the luxury cottage that we had been expecting and having had to pay over £800 for something of this quality seems a rip off.
