Bakewell beauty

A shame there weren't 2 x parking spaces but was OK on the road.

Lovely property would absolutely recommend

Lovely property, very clean, only faults were stairs were quite steep from the 1st to ground floor but not enough of an issue to say that this is not a superb property.

Couldn’t find the bins when taking out the trash.

The Cottage was amazing. Had a really lovely homely feeling. Really clean and plenty of bathrooms. A 8 minute walk into town. Will be back !!!

Lovely week, worked round problems but took shine of

The location was fantastic, quick walk into town, slower climb home. Cottage was lovely and would score higher if we had responses to our issues . We had three toilets and two bathrooms for three couples . Lots of steps but a cosy cottage

Downstairs shower hose split, we purchased another and replaced - how the cleaner didn’t spot I don’t know. Oven was filthy and sides not in place we couldn’t use the internal oven or the grill at all which was kept shut with cardboard . Had planned a few home meals had to swop to stove top options . I contacted booking . Com. And Sykes cottages three times whilst away no reply !!! It’s a shame for the owner I don’t know if they know of the issues or not.

Beautiful cottage with amazing views

The layout is amazing !!! we were three couples and space and bathrooms gave us all privacy and space It is really well designed with lovely furnishings very comfortable beds and cleaned to a very high standard .

It was a long uphill walk back to the cottage from town - one of our group could not manage.

Great. We'd come again, but if in winter we'd want a back-up heat source for the downstairs bedroom.

Location, layout and facilities

Downstairs bedroom was too cold to use. Although its thermostat was set to 20+, it didn't get above 16 all weekend. And it was a mild weekend. The rest of the house achieved the thermostat temperature. In fact, we turned off the towel rails several times as they were overheating the bathrooms.

Beautiful, cosy little cottage a short walk from Bakewell town centre

Beautiful, well appointed cottage which was decorated for us for Christmas! Superbly well equipped and all communication was excellent. Loved the log burner on the cold winter nights.

If you’re fairly fit then the walk in to town is fine, but we did have two older members of our party who struggled with the steepness and so had to rely on their car to get in to town. This was okay during the winter but I know that the area gets very busy during the summer months so might be more of a problem then.

The perfect cosy Peak District cottage

It was so cosy and warm and we felt at home instantly. We loved it. They had put out all the essentials for us and it had everything we needed. It was a great location to explore the area. We’d definitely choose to stay there again.

The property was very well laid out and had everything we needed.

At times it was simply too warm. We were unable to turn the downstairs bathroom towel rail off. This made the bathroom too hot at times. There were cobwebs in the shower rooms at ceiling height which spoiled the obvious attention to detail. Otherwise a lovely, welcoming cottage.

Stunning property with high quality fixtures and fittings. Sun remains outside the front of the property until late into the evening. I short walk into Bakewell. Amazing stay - thank you!

Property was too warm - thermostat needs to be turned down. Twin beds pushed together to make a super king could do with a mattress topper to prevent falling down the crack.

Great stay in Bakewell, cottage worth a try.

The sofa was excellent, so comfy. The amenities were ok, bedrooms were clean and tidy and comfy, husband loved the log fire and sofa (feel he will buying these next). Books, games and DVDs available, we have said we would like to try here in summer/spring months, as was here in winter.

We arrived to the Christmas tree and decorations still up, we ended packing these up ourselves. The tap in the bedroom was very loose had to hold the same to turn tap on and turn off. May need tighting up. Understand that the showerhead in the lower bathroom was also loose, but I didnt use this so cannot exactly say how bad this was. There was also notes up informing us not to mess with the heating. Sometimes the heating was too hot and then had to open windows which then made you cold. We also took our dog and there was no enclosed space outside for her have a wee or poops, we had to take her offsite for this.

Everything else, absolutely beautiful place, incredibly clean, brilliantly located and just all-round fab.

For how much we paid for a weekend in the summer I was disappointed that we weren't left with at least one full roll of toilet paper per bathroom and some dishwasher tablets.

Why row cottage

Well appointed. Good facilities and reasonable location. The refurbishment has be done to a high standard.

The main criticism is that the heating system is controlled remotely by the owner and thus we were not able to override at times when the cottage got a bit chilly. Ok in the summer but definitely not in the autumn/winter months! Also my colleague got locked in his bedroom as the handle mechanism failed. Reported to the cleaning company.
