Great winter location, close to trails, restaurants and easy flat walk to train station.

A lot of things are closed in January here, and we were lucky to find this location. That was so fantastic next-door to a great restaurant and coffee shop an easy access to the train station and the trails. Perfect for two friends traveling that don’t want to share a bed.

Location was good. Apt was well equipped, but you had to stick your head out the window for a sea view. Otherwise you were looking at a building. Somewhat misadvertised in my opinion.

The furnishings were very very uncomfortable. The bed and couch needs to be replaced. There were dirty dishes with oil residue, food, and coffee stains. The towels were stained and old with a smell. I didn’t want to take a shower.

Wow, I hope the people reading this have a moment to read because its going to be a long one. My keyboard would probably blow up from all of the typing recommending the good things about this place so please be patient. =) 1. After getting off the train in Monterosso station the walk to the property was about a 5-minute walk. Which was very convenient as we were carrying 2 big suitcases each. After admiring the gorgeous scenery and leisurely walking toward our room, as we came out of the tunnel and into the village of Monterosso we were walking with phone in hand using our google Maps (it will be your best friend and surprisingly accurate with walking instructions) I hear this little voice calling out, "Matthew...... Matthew......" I didn't quite hear it clearly but my wife said "Babe, someone is calling your name." I paid more attention at that point and I heard it again, as I looked in that direction I see this sweet little timid girl, calling my name. Of course I smiled and the host, Francesca stood up and called our name. It was our host, her daughter, and her granddaughter ( the little girl calling my name.) They introduced themselves and the daughter and child went off on their way and Francesca walked us to our room. Personally. Passed over the key and answered any questions we had. 2. The room was wonderful. It was the largest property we had stayed out during our entire stay in Europe (3 weeks) and was the most reasonably priced also. The bed was comfortable, was full kitchen, as well as washer for us to do our clothes. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, glasses, cooking components, washing detergent and all of the normal amenities you would expect from a stocked furnished flat. The bed was very comfortable, and we had two large windows in the room that we kept open and let the nice cool night air flow in and circulate throughout the room. I love sleeping with a cold breeze blowing in.

There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. It was an amazing experience from the time we stepped off the train until the time we had to leave. I am only writing in this space since I ran out of space in the category above. We Loved Monterosso and it was probably our favorite location that we visited in all of Italy. The hiking trails between the 5 villages were great, scenic views and everything was just so peaceful, and perfect. I cant speak highly enough about our host and property that we stayed in. Ive already recommended it to two other friends headed to Europe early next year, and without a doubt, our next trip we will return to Monterosso and will ABSOLUTELY STAY with Francesca again and in one of her properties.

Very nice!

The apartment is well furnished and clean with all the works. Location is right in the old town centre with lots of eateries around. Had one of our best lunch in Italy at one Osteria just 2 mins from the apartment. About 10 mins walk from the train station but well worth the effort. Host is very nice and friendly. Had good communications with her prior to our arrival due to some train strike affecting our travel. And she was very accommodating to our change of arrival timings. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

Location, host was amazing and most hospitable of all accomodation while we were travelling in over one month and multiple countries.

The washing machine had so much mould inside so it was not convenient to wash clothes.

Cute, cosy stay in the heart of Monterosso

A beautifully clean, cosy and well presented apartment, in the heart of old town Monterosso. Excellent location, only a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, 5-10 minute walk to the train station and in the middle of all the best restaurants/bars and shopping. Our host, Francesca, was wonderful! So warm and welcoming and always available via text/call.

Great location in old town. Right in the middle of the restaurants and shops. Great balcony overlooking all the action. Air conditioning worked great. We were on floor 2. It even had a washing machine.

We were on the top floor so some in our group were tired of climbing the stairs after hiking the trail from Vernanza to Monterosso but it really isn’t an issue.

If we return to Cinque Terre (hopefully we do) then we would love to stay here again.

Il Portico was very quaint. Check in was seamless, with our host meeting us at the front door. Everything was clean and as pictured. A portable crib was set up on our arrival for our daughter. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evenings, watching the hustle and bustle of the town below. We also took advantage of the very short walk to the beach.

Incredible location we loved this stay!! Host was amazing and so helpful and this stay is all about location. Bonus having a washing machine. Fabulous restaurants right outside the front door! Loved it!

Brilliant stay

Amazing location in Monterosso, it was lovely experiencing the quiet mornings and evenings in what’s normally a bustling road. Bed was very comfortable and the apartment overall had everything we needed. We were able to do washing and get everything dry in a day which was great. The host was very accommodating and helped us settle in with some good recommendations.

The shower was cramped and needs some mould remover at the base, but may just be cosmetic?

Nice location but expensive for what we actually got - check the actual property you are staying at!

The location was great although not where advertised. While the property (and most photos) was advertised as Il Portico Via Vittorio Emanuel 1, we were advised when trying to find the place that it was actually at Via Vittorio Emanuel 48 - a completely different building with inferior furnishings to those shown for Il Portico. The host was friendly.

The check in process could have been a bit simpler if we were told in advance what the actual address was, together with the key box code and process. We had no phone coverage on the Cinque Terre trail during the day so it took over an hour to finally connect with the host (who was extremely apologetic and had tried to contact us throughout the day) and find the actual property. The property had no wash cloth or washing powder - very sparsely fitted out. The actual property was below the standard of the majority of the photos on the site - we later found our property photos in the last 9 or so photos of 139 photos, which I found very misleading!! It was not Il Portico!!

Very cosy and tasteful little apartment, right in the centre of this small, but pretty town. Good place for a one night visit or to use as a base to explore the Cinque Terre.

Nothing of any note, but the steep stairs to the second floor may be a problem for those unsteady on their legs.

Nicely equipped apartment with city view

We rented the Holiday home. Nice, clean and well equipped apartment with balcony overlooking the city.

The address on booking indicates that the property is next to the beach. This is not the case for the Holiday home. It’s about 4 min walk into the city. For us that was not a big issue in the end, but we were choosing this property because it was seaside so this is definitely a minus in our books.

What can I say about this property that hasn't already been said about the host and property. A 10/10 on every possible aspect. Lovely spacious property, super welcoming and caring host, location right in the centre. The apartment had everything that a family on a holiday could need. Grate base for Cinque terre

Grate location, well equipped, everything you need for your stay at the Cinque terre. Very clean and neat. I recommend to use this as your base for a few nights, we only had one night and would gladly have stayed longer.

Bed could use a mattress topper to make it a bit softer, but it was still ok.
