Dream stay in Utrecht

We thought it would be fun to stay somewhere a bit different on this trip, and we were right. Worth every cent to stay in such a unique and beautiful apartment, right on the canal. Exceptionally clean and comfortable, there was everything available for a fantastic stay. Hosts were lovely. Would definitely stay here again if I returned to Utrecht :)

The space is so beautiful, and for us as a family it was great having a kitchen and laundry. The location is perfect too. It’s close to everything but felt remarkably peaceful. The hosts were thoughtful and responsive as well!

A Perfect Stay in the Heart of Utrecht – Truly Unforgettable!

This is hands down the best place to stay in Utrecht! The location is simply perfect — right in the heart of the city, just a 3-minute walk from the iconic Dom Tower, yet tucked away on a quiet street in a charming neighborhood. Within 5 minutes on foot, you’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful spots Utrecht has to offer. The apartment itself was absolutely spotless, incredibly well-equipped with everything we could possibly need — and even more! Staying in a beautifully renovated former cellar, with a private terrace directly on the canal, was such a unique and magical experience. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. This stay exceeded all our expectations — we would recommend it 100% and would love to come back. A hidden gem in Utrecht!

What a charming place in a quaint part of town in one of the best cities in the Netherlands! Great location near center of town (with tons of shops, restaurants, pubs, grocery, etc) nicely situated just far enough away such that night noise was not an issue at all. The property is a converted canal storage cellar and the work done to renovate was clearly done by master craftworkers with no expense spared— they’ve thought of everything. Elegant yet simplistic, neat, clean. The place is such that it is perfect for those who want to stay for a few days or a few months. Loaded with all the conveniences of home including conduction stovetop, combined oven/microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and gorgeous bathroom and very decent amount of clothes storage. The hot water was constant, never ran out. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The host (much the Dutch in general) were extremely nice. Honestly, one would have to be hard-pressed and very finicky to have a complaint. The only issue I could think of is if someone had ambulation issues to access the unit from street level down the short yet steep flight of stairs. Perhaps they have a solution for that, but wouldn’t know since was not a problem for us. Also is relatively close to the train station which is only a relatively short ride to Leiden/Keukenhof, Gouda, Delft, National Forest, Paleis Het Loo, etc. All this for a very reasonable price! Best place we’ve ever stayed. We would definitely rent again if/when we return to Utrecht. Top marks, well done.

A wonderfully unique and perfectly situated property!

A unique property, beautifully transformed into this wonderful canal-side accommodation. A clean, modern style but one which worked harmoniously with the brickwork and curves of this gorgeous hideaway. Perfectly located to be in the centre of stunning Utrecht, but still largely peaceful. Breakfast next to the canal in the sunshine was a particular highlight!

50th birthday weekend in Utrecht.

Absolutely stunning apartment in a great location in the centre of Utrecht. Apartment spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay memorable. Very helpful lovely host, Anne-Marie told us a bit about the history of the property. Would highly recommend!

Excellent location, a real experience staying right on the canal is wonderful. Shops, bars and restaurants are all a stones throw away. The massive gothic church is one of the most beautiful you will see anywhere in the world.

Most unique , beautiful , historic place to stay

This is the most unique property, sat right on the new canal , it is furnished/decorated beautifully and has more then you need for a perfect stay . The hosts were really friendly and helpful. Location fantastic only minutes from all the main sights but was so quiet . Would return in a heartbeat and definitely recommending to family and friends. You really are staying in a piece of history !

The best apartment in Utrecht!!

What’s not to like!! Modern, yet retaining many original features, the apartment was warm with impeccable attention to detail. Vlinders is located in the very exclusive Nieuwegracht, which is both stunning and very quiet. Annemarie and Jan were very welcoming, engaging and obliging. We felt warmly received and well looked after.

After decades of global travel, hands down best accommodation ever stayed in

the hosts were super flexible, agreeing to meet us early and giving a personalised tour of the apartment. It was my husbands birthday and they left wine and snacks on arrival and gave us local Dutch cookies on checkout! All awesome, personalised and unexpected but appreciated touches. The photos though awesome, aren't as amazing as living it.

If only they would have accepted us as permanent tenants, agreed to take no further bookings for the rest of their lives, adopted us as part of their fabulous family and neighbourhood......

Phenomenal stay in beautiful Utrecht

This place is phenomenal; truly one of the best places we've ever stayed. It was very clean and updated. Beautiful design and we loved sitting outside by the canal. There are also many small touches that were so helpful, like umbrellas. If we return to Utrecht, we'll absolutely stay again! As a bonus, Annemarie and family were incredibly kind.

A wonderfully well appointed and unique place to stay with a near perfect location!

The owners are exceptionally friendly. The location is directly on a beautiful canal and there are literally dozens upon dozens of wonderful restaurants, bars, historical sites and other activities within a 15 minute walk radius of the property.

The only thing I did not like was leaving. I didn’t want to check out! Will 100% be returning to both Utrecht AND this wonderfully unique and well situated property!

Incredible stay!

The host was a kind and helpful lady who waited for our arrival at 6pm. It was a rainy night yet she offered her help to carry our luggages because we have 2 kids with us. This was the most beautiful canal city that we have visited so far and we had a wonderful and memorable stay in this place! It has everything you need!

Wharf-side living in beautiful Utrecht

Fantastic apartment in a brilliant location. Immaculately presented and stylishly designed, with hosts who could not have been more helpful. So glad we found this absolute gem! Loved sitting by the canal with a coffee/glass of wine, an absolutely magical spot.

Probably my own fault, but I hadn't appreciated that we would all be sleeping in the same room. It was fine, just a bit of a surprise!
