Waterlinie Lodges

Heel idyllisch en dicht bij de stad.

The lodges were very comfortable with a distinct Netherland design feel. The interior was very modern, comfortable, bright, and super clean. You enter the lodges through huge thick glass doors straight into the living room kitchen area. The kitchen was well equipped. A highlight were the baby-friendly extras including a baby gate for the stairs down into the sleeping area, high chair, and the rounded stairs and furniture, which allowed our 6 month old granddaughter to roam freely. I had trepidations about sleeping below the ground as I usually do not even like to walk through tunnels, but the basement sleeping area was so solidly constructed with smallish windows that allowed for some sunlight, that I slept like a baby. Both bedrooms had comfortable hygienic modern bathrooms which makes for a more comfortable stay if traveling as a family. The outside setting was also a pleasant surprise, along a waterway full of ducks and geese, waddling along outside the kitchen windows. The lodges are separated by enough space and high grass/brush to allow for a lot of privacy even while sitting on the patio. While it is quite a walk to get to the historic center of Utrecht, the subway station is an easy distance of about a 18 minute stroll- and then there are plenty of bicycles to rent right on the property, which should make any commute a breeze. (Our granddaughter was just a little too small for the bicycle children's seats that were designed for kids of about 3-5.) A special bonus to the location is a beautiful farm-to-table restaurant right across the waterway. Since it is located in a glass barn surrounded by beautiful, garden the string lights add a special charm to the setting at night. (There is no rowdy disturbing noise.) The food there is exquisite- and an absolute must try when staying a these lodges!

Maybe it is just me, but I got a little worried when we had not received our door code around two hours before check-in. The system is so automized that door codes won't be released until the property is cleaned. The owners did communicate with me frequently though, explaining that there had been a spilling incident with prior renters that required extra cleaning. Upon arriving the place was so spotless that any spillage on the upholstery was absolutely gone. I feel I should warn that the spindling stairs down to the bedrooms are relatively tight and steep. Anyone, booking these lodges has to be comfortable with that. In the end, I deducted a point, due to the listed price. Since we booked pretty last minute, we got a really good deal which made it absolutely worth it.

Heel dicht bij het centrum,maar toch in de rust.Fietsen kun je huren bij de huisjes zelf.De slaapkamers zijn in de kelder,wat bij warm weer een dikke plus is.

Einzelbetten zu schmal, Zimmer im Keller viel zu dunkel , Treppe für Kinder und Senioren ungeeignet. Stadt ist 40 min Fußweg entfernt und nicht wie angegeben 20
