Utrecht is a great city to use as a home base for a week and this apartment is a good choice.
Very comfortable apartment in a great, quiet location. Comfortable, short walk into the old city and its many attractions and general ambiance typical of beautiful, historic Dutch cities. If you plan ahead, the train runs from Maliebaan (Museum) Station to Utrecht Centraal hourly during the day for euro3 and that station is only 150m away from the apartment (when you have luggage). The heating worked well - very responsive.
Don't underestimate how steep the steps are. They are typical of many old Dutch properties but that doesn't mean they are not tricky with luggage. If you are not sure on your feet, this place may not be for you. When living in NL some years ago, I often commented that the Dutch are confused between stairs and ladders :) . There was a nasty, wafting smell coming from the shower drain. The smell came and went but was there most days. Maybe not easy to fix but something needs attention.

Loved it, would stay again (with smaller luggage!)
The bed was incredibly comfortable, slept really well. The shower was good, water pressure great. Location was great, lovely walk to markets and cafes, historic buildings, and shops. The rooms had great natural light.
The stairs were really steep to the second level. Very difficult as over 60’s to get medium suitcases up and down.

Location was excellent. Property was clean and spacious. Check-in and out was easy.
Only recommendation is in the room we stayed there could be a little more liighting in the living room/kitchen. Also, a toaster would have been nice.

A nice stay in charming Utrecht
The apartment on Maliesingel was a great location in a quiet tree-lined area by the canal and only about 10mins walk to the old town/city centre. It is about 20 mins walk to the central Utrecht station. The staff we dealt with were friendly and responsive. We stayed in Utrecht for 8 nights and were so glad we did. We were able to get to know Utrecht well and also do some day trips to Amsterdam, Gouda, The Hague( to see the Mauritshuis Museum) and Delft. Utrecht is a charming city with picture perfect scenes everywhere. It was busy but not overwhelmed by tourists like Amsterdam and we were travelling in summer.
I was so excited to find an apartment with a balcony and a canal view as shown in some of the photos but if you look closely, not all are like this. What I didn't realise is that there are 4 apartments in the building and only one is the beautiful apartment with the lovely old doors opening to a balcony overlooking the canal. We got the apartment on the other side of the building which did have a balcony but a simple one overlooking people's backyard ensures but luckily with a tree view. There is no toaster in the apartment which I think is common for Europe but perhaps good to know for those travelling from the US and NZ and Australia. The stovetop had touch controls which were a bit temperamental.
