The location was great, the room was clean, spacious & comfortable. Serge the owner was excellent, sent lots of information and was on hand if needed.
It was a personal thing for me but I found the bed too soft but other people might find it perfectly fine.
9.0 / 10.0
Ideally located with secure on site parking which is very important as parking is limited in the area? Some bars and restaurants within a minutes walk and the main square and other bars, restaurants and shops within a10 minute stroll. Serge was very informative and quick to respond to messages.
Nothing.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is excellent, with easy access to the city, making it simple to visit all the main attractions. Even before my arrival, the owner kindly sent me detailed information by email about what to see and do in the area, which was extremely helpful.
Upon arrival, I was delighted to find that my room had been upgraded to a beautiful suite — spacious, spotless, and fully equipped with everything I could possibly need. Right next to the suite there was a dedicated kitchen, fully equipped and stocked with a fridge containing food, which made the stay even more comfortable. The view from the room was lovely, and I also appreciated the availability of toiletries and hair products. The parking and convenient self check-in made everything smooth and easy.
The host gave me a warm welcome and proved to be very kind, even allowing me to stay longer after check-out, which I truly appreciated. We shared a pleasant and interesting conversation in my mother tongue, Italian, but also speaks several other languages including Dutch, French and Russian if I remember properly.
I received also recommendations for nearby places just a short walk away for breakfast on top of what available in the kitchen. Overall, a perfect combination of comfort, hospitality, and convenience. Highly recommended!

Excellent location, quiet yet only 600 metres from La Grand’ Place. Many shops, cafes and restaurants within a few minutes stroll from La Maison. Secure private parking on site. Well appointed communal kitchen/dining room where guests can have self catered breakfast or other meals. Charming, helpful host (Serge) and staff.

Serge is an excellent host and can’t do enough to help! The property is clean and the bed comfy. Also the shower is great which is so important. The availability of tea/coffee is great and the communal kitchen is useful even just for breakfast. We enjoyed the little extra of some chocolate!
Serge provided lots of local information for eating out.

This is our third time here, and that tells you all you need to know. We love the place - the bedrooms are splendidly decorated and furnished in a traditional style, with lovely big soft beds and soundless airconditioning, and a fantastic bathroom. There's a shared kitchen if you want to make your own breakfast, and a kettle etc in each bedroom. There really isn't anything you can think of that's been left out... And Mons is well worth a visit, especially the main town square.
Everything was perfect.

I didn’t
It wasn’t apparent that the access into the house was via steps and the rooms were up an old stair case with many steps and an inadequate handrail in places.

Lovely building and obviously recently renovated rooms. Gorgeous art around hotel and rooms. Access to guest kitchen and appliances. Very friendly host and air conditioning in rooms. A godsend when I stayed because it was nearly 30 degrees. As advertised, parking is free and secure. No food available but various recommendations from host. Had a great nights sleep.
Absence of any food is a problem when you are tight for time in the morning. I had to get up at 6am to walk to the nearest bakery for basic items. Sumptuous breakfasts available at nearby hotels would take too long if you have to leave early, as I did.

There was nothing that we didn't like

Location in middle of town and with parking. Lovely old place being sympathetically restored.
Stairs meant carrying all luggage up & down. We managed but perhaps worth pointing out before booking as some people would not manage.

Beautiful and comfortable. The house is quite old and is being refurbished, but the room is nicely decorated, the bed is very good. So kind of them to have coffee, tea and jam for guest! We had a lovely time!

The property has private car parking. A lovely old building in the process of renovation. We were thankful for the AC system, as the temperature was around 30C in the afternoon! A short walk into the town centre with plenty of bars & eateries.
No refrigerator in the room. Although one is located close by in the kitchen.

Nothing, everything was as expected

We very much enjoyed our stay! The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. It was nice to have access to a kitchen while staying there. Clear check-in instructions were provided for us prior to arrival as to how to get into the building and our room when we arrived if no one was around. When we met the owner Serge on our day of checkout he was incredibly kind and you can feel his passion about renovating this property. The free parking on site is a huge bonus.
Some things to note for other travelers are that this property is still under construction/renovation, so the lobby area that could be used for hanging out currently seems to be the central hub for work being done and is dusty. There are steps into the main level and I believe all of the rooms are up flights of stairs, so not an accessible property for everyone. You can tell this is a passion project and labor of love for the owner renovating this old gem of a property!

The cleanliness and comfort of the rooms are fantastic. Having its own car park is also a big plus for the area. The host is always quick to respond if anything is required.

This is an 250 year building that the proprietor is updating. When you first walk in, you might be a little taken back. I had to mount some stairs that were original to the building, unfinished but solid. Some older furniture is placed on stairway landings and other places, sort of emphasizing that this is an old building. The room is another story. The rooms have all been renovated and the one I had was impeccably clean with fresh linen and an assortment of tea and coffee along with some chocolates to welcome us. The bathroom is modern with a smaller sized tub and a large sink. The toilet is in a separate water closet and that too has been renovated. We had access to a kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, dining room table and a kitchen cabinet containing honey and Nutella for our waffles. The neighborhood where this facility is located in an older neighborhood, so the building is age correct to those that surround it. To say that Serge was merely helpful would be an understatement. He messaged me within minutes of booking, emailed some helpful suggestions for dining, left me a phone number in the event we needed information, and excelled in customer service.
Within 5 minutes walking distance is a supermarket, bakery (two actually), butcher shop (two), a pub, a variety of restaurants, and just a short walk (15 minutes or so) to the city center making this an excellent location.
When my spouse and I travel, we try and maximize what we can spend by finding affordable pensions, inns or small hotels that are clean and safe and that don't consume 50% of our travel budget. The building sits off of the street and at night the walkway is dark. To ensure safety, both sides light up (and I mean light up with a light approximately every 10 feet on both sides) and a security camera. I was impressed by the detail that Serge has put into ensuring safety.
The reason for this trip was to purchase three cases of the world's best beer, Westvleteren.
This is a work in progress. Serge has taken an old building and put life back into it but there is still some work to be done. As I stated, the room is spotless and modern and the kitchen area quaint. The next time I'm in Mons, I will book a room here if one is available.

The best nights sleep since forever! Lovely quality fittings and furnishings. Well equipped kitchen but close to everything.
The accommodation was not marked and so difficult to find. Initially thought it couldn't be there as looked semi derelict.. suggest signage and sharpening the parking area up.

Very nice clean room, bathroom and kitchen area all with fantastic decor. The bed was extremely comfortable. Only 5 mins walk from the grand place. Private parking area that is a plus for its location. Couldn't fault it in any way and would definitely stay again.

A lovely room in a central location, with a super comfy big bed. The ability to make your own breakfast was most welcome as we needed an early start.
The owner was most welcoming and very helpful.
We would have preferred a proper shower rather than one over a bath with a curtain, but that's being picky.

Comfy bed and nicely furnished. Great location- short walk to the main square with lots of restaurants . Good value
Not easy to find

Work in progress hotel (part building site). Owner having an attempt to develop a boutique hotel. May be better experience when it's all finished. No external signage at road/street entrance or front door locations so makes it hard to find.
