Fabulously quirky! Highly recommended

Fabulously quirky and unbeatable value for money. If you like eclectic and vintage aesthetics you will love this place. I stayed in the suite which was huge and very well appointed. If you can try and have a chat with the host. A fascinating incredibly warm man with some amazing stories. Highly recommended.

Very quirky hotel with connections to Tintin, sadly in need of some repairs and refitting

The host Philip is a very nice guy and we happened to share an interest in the Tintin graphic novel series by Herge. This house is one of the inspirations for the house in the books. The host made me welcome and was very accommodating.

Unfortunately the property really needs some work. Some of the worst plumbing I've seen outside England in the 1990's when the "shower in the corner of your room" was prevalent in B & B's. This place goes one better with an actual toilet in the corner of the bedroom, which I was warned didn't work. I could have happily put up with the quirky plumbing and copious bric-a-brac scattered around the place, but the clincher was the smell. Some sort of spicy, BO, rotten smell that was all pervading. It's a shame, as the host is a nice guy, but clearly a bit disorganised. Can't really recommend you try it until they can solve the odor issue.

Like staying in an Agatha Christie novel

A very special experience! The castle is beautiful and the interior design is quirky. It was like staying in someone's home. We had a lovely breakfast with candlelight. Nice athmosphere!

The description of the room was not quite accurate. It said that the room includes a private bathroom with a bath and a bidet and that there was wine/champagne for guests. However, when we arrived, the host told us that we had to share the toilet and shower (which was on the corridor) with other guests. So it was not private. Also, there wasn't wine nor champagne.

We were hoping to find a regular accommodation for our trips, but we will not go back there.

The building is lovely with nice details and interestingly decorated.

We did not find any staff, another guest told us where our room was. The host contacted us after we had arrived but we did not see them during the whole stay. Our room (suite) smelled unpleasant. The bathroom did not look sparkling clean, it needs refurbishment. The area around the property and also the town Charleroi is very rough and was not somewhere we would like to go again.

Awesome, exceptional, treated as "Royalty"

The Chateau is an enchanting place. The rooms and parlours are fascinating. The interior decorations and collections of art are eclectic and pleasing to the eye. The garden is rich in vegetation and peaceful. The Host Phillipe is an amazing, friendly, polite and charming person. He welcomed us warmly and picked us from the airport. His mussels in white wine and home made pasta were delicious. The breakfast has a variety of goodies. Charlotte, the mascot of the property, a protective goose was very funny greeting us each time we went out in the garden.

My stay was too short. I would have stayed at this place for weeks! It was nothing that I did not like.

chateau but not as expected as chateau

there was a living room with Pool billiard which was accessible.

the chateau was dirty. the garden was dirty not properly take. care, the room we took was named as king room which had bathroom and toilet covered by a curtain.toilet at side of bed..nevere seen anywhere never expected this. thought there was shared toilet which was clean. the bed sheets were not changed and it was dirty and smelling.

The hostess was lovely! She was responsible for everything other than our transportation. She even cooked us a delicious dinner.

Everything else! It was such a shame because it is a beautiful house filled with incredible antiques, but I felt like I was visiting my son’s university dorm room. Put out the money and build proper en suites in the rooms!

Escape from the city…

There was so much to look at in the Chateâu... It felt authentic as if we had gone back in time… Set in a gorgeous garden above Charleroi, with a real goose doorbell. There’s parking & a bike storage space. We were treated so well by the staff.
