Great place to stay in Canggu

I love almost everything about the villa and staff; one morning after the heavy rain overnight I found my car has been cleaned and dried by the team; this is very thoughtful and meaningful task which most of the hotel need to think of, Bravo Astera Resort. Overall the service was impeccable from the front office, housekeeping and engineering.

The breakfast was quite average, the main problem is the coffee as they don't have a decent coffee. Both eggs dishes which I have ordered was just okay, Benedict with bacon something did not to my liking; my preference in this case would be Florentine with side bacon would be better.

The staff at Astera Resort Canggu were incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was delicious and always nicely presented. The room felt comfortable with good amenities and the roomservice was quick and friendly. I also slept very well because the bed was cozy and the surroundings were quiet.

THE STAFF WERE AMAZING. I saw everyone writing this when I booked (last minute, the morning of my stay) and they weren’t exaggerating. All the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Facilities were awesome and loved the added extras you could easily organise. Last minute decision that made our trip. I stayed here solo with my two kids and felt very safe and comfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for first time visitors.

The customer service is top tier. Devi was especially helpful with experiences, cabs, and good to the pool/ rooms. Breakfast box to go was nice. Everyone is warm. Room were cleaned very well. Booking outside trips was easy.

The spa services needs work. Old slippers for guests are a nice gesture but looked worn. My room key kept turning off at odd hours. Late hours. Not being able to share rooms so big is a turn off. You should at least be able to have two to a room. The hotel needs to make hotel amenities knowledgeable to the guest early. I did not know we could use the Van to go to the beach until much later in our trip.

MASSIVE RIPOFF!

Their incredible bartender/waiter ‘Mustika’ He made sure we were looked after with food and drinks and even trained the staff to make our special drinks on his days off, he deserves a massive raise for his fantastic help.

I would highly recommend reading this before booking this place as this is a very honest review. Don’t even know where to start this place. looks great on the photos…. But, they forget to mention that the Aircon barely works, The whole entire apartment is run off Alexa which also doesn’t work, the pool drains itself halfway through throughout the night and then refills it up with a super loud spout 3 times per night but you can barely notice it as there’s a construction site across the road and behind the pool so you’re kept up until 1 am with jackhammers and drills. They tell you on the signs to keep all doors closed so insects don’t get in but don’t mention the fact that every single door has a gap that’s at least 1 cm wide. We have come home multiple times to worms, literally hundreds of ants and mosquitoes, millipedes and at one point a Snake. So every night, Every single night you are literally eaten alive by mosquitoes getting through every gap in every single window and it is impossible to close them completely. There is minimal hot water so when we filled the Jacuzzi up at night, found out it didn’t work so we had someone come out to look at it and said that we needed a shower as we used all of our hot water for the Jacuzzi, they didn’t come back to tell us, rather they sent through text message when our phones are already off at that time of the evening. The cleaners woke us up before 9am to ask if we wanted a room clean even though we had a sign on the door saying we didn’t need a tidy room. They say that the breakfast is included as we payed extra for it, but also forget to mention the fact that it’s a $12 fee for them to walk 20 m to your room to deliver it ice cold. The breakfast food included which is quite pricey was absolutely horrible and the staff speak very little English so the language barrier is insane and you end up with something completely different to what you ordered.

The property is in need of a make over. The wear and tear is more visible and is missing the freshness it once had. I was disappointed with the towels and quality of the bed sheets as they didn’t look overly clean with cheap material. Astera is on the expensive end in terms of price so the price vs the quality does not match up.

I really don’t like writing bad reviews for businesses. But sometimes you just have to. Staff weren’t helpful at all, hot water wasn’t working when we arrived, the staff rang the doorbell at 11 at night and just came into our room. My wife didn’t feel very confortable at all after that. We were asleep! They paid for our taxi as an apology. We also left our Apple Watch in the room, the app even said it was there, it took the staff 3 days to even try and find it and then it just disappeared. So who knows what happened. There’s so many hotels so I’d just recommend going to another.

A magical stay

The staff were so friendly and helpful! Fei, Resi and Devi were amazing. The room we stayed in was so spacious and beautiful. I went to the spa twice and Nova was just excellent, she was so kind and gentle. The gift I was given at the end of my stay was so special and unexpected. A true, once-in-a-lifetime dream!

Beautiful villa and great space to relax, but the service could be better.

We recently stayed at a villa in Bali and overall, we had a pretty mixed experience. The villa itself was amazing—honestly, one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed in. It was super spacious, beautifully designed, and had such a peaceful, luxurious vibe. The private pool and jacuzzi were definitely highlights—perfect for lounging around all day. The architecture and layout were really well thought out, and the whole place felt private and relaxing. That said, the service from the staff didn’t quite match the quality of the villa. Everyone was polite, but the interactions felt a bit robotic and not very genuine. We were constantly reminded about extra charges for every little thing, even though we were already told about them at check-in. For example, if we messaged or called to ask for anything—even something small—we’d always get a reminder that it would cost extra, which made things feel a bit transactional and took away from the experience. One thing that really stood out was the charge for breakfast delivery. It was £5 a day just to have breakfast brought to the room, which felt a bit off considering most villas in Bali include that as a complimentary service. Another issue was with the pool cleaning. We were told that the pool is cleaned daily, but when it looked noticeably dirty one day, we asked for it to be cleaned. The guy who came to do it told us pretty openly that the pool isn’t actually cleaned every day, which left us a bit confused and surprised, especially after being told otherwise by the staff. The villa is also in quite a busy area, which is great if you’re looking to be close to restaurants and shops—but it does mean that getting to most of the main excursions or more scenic parts of Bali takes a while. All in all, we really enjoyed the villa itself—it’s a beautiful place to unwind and spend time in—but the service and some small details didn’t quite live up to what we were expecting.

Really good hotel and the sweetest staff

The people are so sweet here, the rooms are good not the best but I feel the price is good for what you get! I received a gift a pochette from the hotel and also the floating breakfast is a must do here, I loved the people, the vibe in the hotel, I can’t say anything that I didn’t like!

They are doing restoration next to the hotel but they already told us before we booked so it’s your own choice, it didn’t bother us but I can understand others would found it annoying.
