A refreshing calm oasis in Canggu

Papaya Guesthouse is an oasis in Canggu. I love love ilo and komang and the other keepers of the guesthouses they are just the sweetest. They cook yummy breakfast and have the most sincere interactions. Likewise with Gaby the guesthouse owner who is always there with good conversations. The place is quiet and peaceful, the floor is made of real terracotta tiles and feels super grounding to arrive, walking barefoot in the room is a soothing feeling. I slept like a baby here. I am a repeat guest 3-4 times now, and I marvel at how the house remains so clean and well-maintained. A perfect stay.

Great accomodation with the Main Street on your doorstep.

The location and cleanliness of Papaya is fantastic. It’s a basic guesthouse but had everything we needed. Outside of breakfast, guests can use the kitchen and there’s free drinking water. The pool area was well maintained.

As mentioned in other reviews, the beds are quite firm and the curtains don’t block out the light. There is some noise from the road but that’s Canggu for you.

Comfortable and with a true at-home feel.

Breakfast was perfect. The owner (whom we had the opportunity to talk to during breakfast) made us feel at home. The bread was the best we tried in Bali, accompanied by homemade marmalade, fresh fruit, and coffee. The location is excellent — although it's on Canggu's main street, it's set back enough that there's no noise. The rooms are spacious and well-designed. You can tell it's a place that's cared for and made with love. Highly recommended.

A peaceful oasis with a wonderful host

This accommodation is truly a hidden gem! Nestled in a quiet and serene setting, it offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Canggu - while still being in an incredibly central location. The lush garden and beautiful pool create a little oasis of tranquility. Our room on the upper floor was bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed, creating a light and welcoming atmosphere. The terrace overlooking the green garden and trees was simply stunning. The place is spotlessly clean - you can tell there’s a European touch when it comes to hospitality. Every detail in the design and setup of the accommodation has been carefully thought out, and you can truly feel the love and dedication behind it. A special highlight was the host, Gaby, the wonderful German owner of the place. She has an incredible presence, and it was a pleasure to spend time with her. She takes the time to connect with her guests and shared fascinating and touching stories about her life. We also loved learning about Balinese culture, local festivals, and traditions from her - all in a relaxed and friendly conversation over breakfast. Speaking of breakfast - it was absolutely delicious and prepared with so much love! The entire staff was super friendly, and it was heartwarming to see how respectfully and kindly Gaby treats her team. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and beautifully run accommodation in Canggu.

The showers were lucky to have hot water for thirty seconds, even after asking for it to be fixed. Seemed like it was an infrastructure problem because the staff were super helpful and tried to assist immediately. Breakfast was very limited options especially if gluten free.

This is a very nice and small place. Gaby, the owner, only rents 8 rooms, what makes this place very special. She is very helpful and always happy to give recommendations for your Bali holiday. The room was very nice and the bed very comfy. Would definitely recommend this place.

Unfortunately the shower was cold during my stay... Apparently the gas bottle needed to be changed.

Great staff and nice property

Very nice staff, friendly and welcoming. They prepare great breakfast every morning. The owner is also very friendly, she also suggested us some warungas and trips around Bali and arrange us a driver. The property is near main street, just a quick walk to all the bars, restaurants and beach. Rooms are clean, the whole property has really nice ambient.

Very friendly staff, great breakfast. Set up is nice, rooms comfortable. Beautiful large balcony and working and easy to use airconditioning. Location right up main road, lovely restaurants are nearby.

Behind the building there is some sort of machine (waterpump?) that makes quite an annoying repetitive noise. So don’t forget to bring earplugs.

Beautiful Oasis in the Center of Canggu

This property was the perfect place to relax after 30+ hours of travelling. Gabi organized two different drivers for us during our stay to make our experience in Canggu as seamless as possible. The breakfast each morning served by the incredible staff was delicious; I am still thinking about the homemade jam. There are many great shops and places to eat close by, and the beach is about a 20-minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

This property is in the centre of Canggu and there are lots of motorcycle sounds, as well as dogs barking. This is not the property's fault at all, but just make sure to bring some earplugs with you!

Papaya guesthouse is a beautiful, peaceful and lovely place in the center of Canggu. The staff is super friendly and the owner Gabi is beyond helpful. She organizes everything you could ask for. The rooms are super nice, each with a balcony or veranda and garden/pool view. the mattresses are next level, the breakfast as well. Will never forget the taste of the banana pancakes. Thanks for everything and a big recommendation.

Such a wonderful place! Lovely rooms and amazing and kind staff that not only cooked the most delicious breakfast but also answered all our questions and made sure we could enjoy our holiday to the fullest and made us feel at home. Amazing location close to a lot of restaurants and also close to a supermarket. Water was provided where you could refill your water bottle and the pool was lovely. The host is also extremely kind and accommodating and has a lot of great tips if you ask!

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Papaya. The property is stunning, beautifully decorated, a refreshing pool, and stylishly appointed rooms. But what really made my stay stand out was the exceptional service I received from the staff. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, and made me feel right at home. They were always available to answer any questions I had and provide recommendations for things to do in the area. My room was spotless and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable bedding and all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. I loved the attention to detail in the decor, which really made the space feel like a home away from home. The guesthouse's location was perfect for exploring Bali Canggu. It was within easy walking distance of some great restaurants, cafes, and shops, and just a short scooter ride away from the beach. And when I needed some downtime, I could relax by the pool and take in the serene surroundings. Overall, I can't recommend this place highly enough. If you're looking for a peaceful, stylish, and comfortable stay in Bali Canggu, this guesthouse is the perfect choice. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

Gaby and her staff immediately make you feel at home. The property is set off one of the main streets of Canggu in a quiet laneway. The rooms are ample and nicely decorated and each has a big balcony or terrace. The pool is great and breakfast is delicious. This is the place I'll be staying again next time I come to Canggu. :)

Papaya guesthouse was absolutely perfect for my one month stay in Canggu. I cannot recommend this place enough and for the price (!!!) I will 100% be coming back. Gabby and all the staff at papaya could not do enough for me and looked after me extra well, even holding my hand by my bed when I got Bali belly 😂. The location is perfect and the rooms/ pool etc are all absolutely stunning and you can tell they are really cared for. 30 min walk from the beach but super quick and cheap on a gojek !
