The location
No one told me it was construcción going on! 6:30 am it was people working and making a lot of noise. I went to relax and it was horrible

The property is in a perfect location, beautifully maintained and exceptionally styled. So welcoming and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are top notch; rooms and common areas are spacious and cozy. Loved it!

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Carlos the barman looked after us every evening and cocktails were great. Breakfasts were very good and nice gesture having complimentary drinks and snacks in the room. The bathroom was fantastic and loved the Le Labo toiletries. Very comfortable bed.
Our room was on the first floor and quite close to the bar area downstairs. One night it was very noisy. The room didn’t really have any natural light so felt dark.

Great small intimate size, friendly and attentive staff, great location, quiet, incredibly clean
Just being overly picky but bathroom design is odd, mirrors within mirrors but no full length mirror anywhere in room, location of nepresso and tea inside closet on a low shelf is awkward, marble shower is beautiful but when wet it presents a dangerously slippery surface. Request room on front of building. Courtyard is more of a lightwell so interior rooms are dark.

The hotel is beautiful; every detail has been carefully selected and plays into the overall composition of tones and materials - congrats to the architect and the interior designer on their amazing job.

Beautiful building with European feeling.
Great attention to detail. Walking distance to dozens of the best restaurants in Polanco.

Cosy, élégant
There should be a permanent seating arrangement outside. Maybe a bench or a couple of seats that cannot be stolen. Removing all tables and seats before 11pm is a pity

Decor is on point. Rooms are extremely small and the majority of the rooms are facing an internal courtyard where the other rooms are directly in front of you. You lack privacy if your curtains are open and you lack the ability to open the windows and get fresh air.
The service is very spotty in general. Staff need further training and need to be more attentive.

Everything! This was perhaps the loveliest hotel stay my husband and I have had (and we’ve traveled a lot!). The luxury for the price point was amazing - every single detail was so well thought out. The room was large, comfortable, and had every amenity we could want. The restaurant and bar were delicious. Staff were incredibly friendly; special shout out to Victor, the GM, who went out of his way to make us feel special and was very attentive and hands on. The location was perfect - two blocks from the main restaurant and shipping area, but a very quiet and safe street. We will absolutely be back!!
Nothing! It was perfection.

Everything! The location, design, room, bar, breakfast and mostly, the customer service. I give this hotel a five star rating. Great location, walking distance to shopping area, restaurants, and park. Loved everything about my stay except that I did not stay longer.
Zero.

The service was excellent. The hotel was beautifully appointed. Shout out to Victor and his team breakfast room and bar. Victor’s level of service was amazing.
The first room we were in was a little bit noisy because it was one floor up over the lobby area. We moved to a room on the street which was quieter. There was some confusion about change, but eventually that was sorted out by the hotel manager.

The Alest is a happy and beautifully run hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, I didn’t want to leave! We were met by Victor and his wonderful team for breakfast every morning which was excellent & included a delicious fruit platter with yoghurt, honey and granola to accompany. Also freshly squeezed juices & very good coffee set in a lovely dining room full of natural light.
Our bedroom was very clean and attended to at all times, being constantly replenished with soaps, lotions and endless little extras. The bed was unbelievably comfortable as were the pillows (very important!). We couldn’t fault a thing.
Nothing!

Great location within Polanco. Short walk to Cuahatamec park. Lovely big airy room within a small intimate hotel. Beautifully designed, lovely extra touches, eg. gratis traditional snacks. Super helpful staff, Le labo bathroom products (big fan), spacious, again beautifully designed bathroom, excellent shower. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Not much. If I was being picky, the lighting could be improved. Lots of big overhead spots or tiny low lit bedside hanging spots. Somewhere in between would be great.

Nothing - worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
Booked a room with a balcony, the balcony overlooked reception!! Zero outside view. People in the foyer could see into my room. No privacy whatsoever. There was a water feature that sounded like a toilet flushing constantly. The room felt like a dark dungeon.
Next the water in the shower was so incredibly hot, it was dangerous to even try shower there. I contacted the front desk and asked to be moved to a room with a balcony that looked outside and a shower with cold water and they just completely ignored me. Told me they would call me back and never did. I went to reception and they told me ‘this was the room I choose’ as if they had no liability to fix the problem. I asked them to allow me to check out early as I no longer wanted to stay in this hell hole and again they just completely ignored me. There was no manager on duty apparently ever? Because they wouldn’t let me speak with someone who could actually help me.
Booking.com was equally brutal to deal with, the rep hung up on me, never called back. Told me she would email the hotel to request that I could leave early without penalty and she never did. I sent a message through their chat function and they responded 4 days later. Awful customer service from both parties. Do not stay at this hotel and I will be booking with Expedia going forwards.

I expected to stay for only one night but extended to a second night because it was outstanding. The location could not have been better. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the special touches throughout the room and hotel in general were top notch.
I did not have the included breakfast but did enjoy the Chilaquiles which were fantastic. For a light dinner I had the burrata with tomatoes and peaches and a cocktail the bartender prepared especially for me and it was divine.
I will stay here again and again.
It was perfect.

nothing - was very good

Wonderful, very responsive staff, excellent ambiance, superb location. Victor in the dining room! As good a staff as the world's best hotels, maybe better.
The bed was very uncomfortable (too soft), even when the extra top pad was removed. The showers are beautiful marble, but devilishly slippery when wet. Small requests for breakfast (butter, salsa) had to go back to the kitchen, and delivery was much delayed. Pre-positioning these in the dining room would be easy and efficient. Laundry, requested to be folded, arrived on hangers. The bed and shower are big issues; the others are small, but revealing of a hotel with such huge potential.

it is a nice hotel
Rooms are extremely loud…. you cannot sleep past 7 am. You can hear every door closing and opening from the rooms in your floor.
We were here on a marriage anniversary get away and wanted to sleep late given that we were without kids, but it was impossible.
we brought the issue to the front desk and they wanted to charge us more to move us to another room. They did not even care that we were celebrating 10 years of marriage.
In addition they treat you are charge like 20% more when making a reservation through booking vs their list prices (highest price they charge locally). And for some reason they make comments that hit that making a booking reservation is somehow bad.
I will never stay in this hotel again. Room noise as the main reason for it. I expect more of a 300-400 usd a night hotel.
