The location was great, right in the centre of town, and I loved the Hostal, its kind of rustic/antique decoration, it felt like a place with character and heart. Samantha the host was lovely. In general, it was really pleasant to be there and if I'm back in Lucca I will love to return.
It would have been nice to meet some human being at the property. The telephone connection with Samantha was great, but it feels a bit weird not to ever meet a living human being. But maybe this is the sign of times, this is how things are usually done now, unfortunately.

Lots of character on 3rd floor in old city. Host was very friendly and helpful. Nice balcony near kitchen. Bathrooms were clean.
No lift so a bit of a struggle getting bags up 3 floors as we are not young.

Simple but very central rooms to explore Lucca and enjoy the evening restaurants and bars. Super clean and with cute details, they offer rooms with two or three shared bathrooms, a kitchen, common dining room and a little terrace with a nice view. The night I stayed here was very cold outside, but they left the heat on and was super cozy inside! Good price for a central place in Lucca.
The 5pm check in is very inconvenient, specially if you don´t want to just leave your bag on the living room floor - it is the most late check-in I have ever seem. It could be 2-3 hours earlier and would be perfect.
Another improvement that would make a big difference would be to have more attention on the supplies they say are offered for the guests - there was a coffee machine but no coffee pods, very few tea bags, all the coffee area set up looked uncared - which was the opposite of the rooms and bathrooms, that where all very nice and cared for. This details on the coffee area need just a little care to be decent and make a big difference.

Great location, super easy access to any part of Lucca.
The place had a not great/stuffy smell and the windows did not open. We never had to wait for shared bathroom when we were there, but in peak times I imagine it can be a bit of a wait.
