Nightmare stay: Constant ceiling leak flooded the room, broken window in the replacement, no sleep,

NOTHING, EVERYTHING WAS HORRIBLE

I strongly advise against booking this hotel in Lucca, our stay was an absolute nightmare from start to finish, and I'd hate for anyone else to go through the same. We checked in excited for a relaxing night, but within hours, water started dripping relentlessly from the ceiling right above our bed. The leak was constant and loud, like a faulty faucet someone forgot to turn off, preventing any chance of sleep. It quickly escalated: the floor turned into a shallow pool, soaking carpets and forcing us to pile our luggage on chairs and the bed to save it from getting ruined. The room smelled damp, felt unsafe, and was completely unlivable. After multiple complaints through the night, staff finally moved us to a "better" room around 9 AM. No improvement there, the window was cracked and broken, with a gaping hole letting in freezing cold air and constant street noise from outside. We tried blocking it with towels, but it was pointless; the room stayed chilly, disruptive, and just as restless as the first. By morning, we were exhausted and done. We checked out early, found another hotel nearby in a panic, and paid double just to get some actual sleep. Despite emails and calls, we still haven't received a refund or even a proper apology only vague promises that go nowhere. Save yourself the headache: search for literally any other accommodation in Lucca before even considering this one. It's not worth the gamble on your comfort or wallet.

The room was a lovely period finished room that was easy to access and pleasant to stay in. It's a shame we were only able to book for one night. Simone was pleasant and helpful.

One night stay in lucca, I wish I'd had more time!

I booked the family room as it was the only one available for the night that I wanted. The room was amazing, the bed very comfy... the bath in the room fabulous with plenty of hot water. Communication from Simona re check in was great and she was super friendly. There was no reception staff so left to your own devices once you had checked in.

There wasnt really anything I didnt like, I am a solo traveller and I enjoyed being able to come and go, lucca itself appeared to be very safe, to get to the accommodation you did have to walk down some side allies, but that is the whole of Lucca really, I didnt come across any issues. . Only other thing with the room is that there is no view and an internal courtyard window to the second family bedded area. This didnt bother me for one night but it may be a little claustrophobic for some if you like to look out at view or watch the world go by

Nothing luxury about it.

Great location, interesting decorative theme.

- Never anyone at the reception desk and quite unresponsive over WhatsApp. - Room was very noisy, something (presumably linen and bottles) was collected from reception around 5am on our final night and it sounded like someone was breaking in to the property. There is a sign asking guests to be wary of making too much noise as the property is old and has lower sound insulation, would be nice if they did the same. - Shower leaked onto the floor and the grout looked as though it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a while. - Pretty standard for accommodation to look after baggage if you are leaving after check-out but they would not so we ended up paying to store them elsewhere.

Reception only open at limited times but not a real problem as give access if no one there. Would have liked to have left bags when checked out but couldn’t because had to leave keys.

Wonderful old world hotel, feels like you stepped back in time.

I really enjoyed the old world charm of this hotel, truly from the medieval times it felt like to me. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and location was right in the middle of the walled city of Lucca.

Facilities need to be updated particularly the bathroom facilities.

Great location to relax while still being close enough to walk everywhere. Beautiful high ceiling in the room and the bed was nice and large.

It is absolutely at the heart of Lucca. The main shopping street, the piazza dominated by tourist restaurants and the most expensive farmacia. It’s a sturdy walk from the train station especially if you are straight off the plane/train and your luggage is starting to feel like you’ve packed too much

very quiet place in the center of Lucca old city

Very nice and luxury looking place in the center of walled city of Lucca. Easy accessible by foot from the train station. For those travel by car there is a parking lot in front of the place on small square. Very quiet place in the ground floor in old building facing small square with church. My room was actually 2 room apartment. Main room with double bed was very comfortable. Nice thing in the place is a free standing bath tube in the room, fully functional of course. Except of that there is another room 2 steps up from the main room. and also full bathroom with toilet, bidet and corner shower. Entrance is via main gate of the building and via another door to the reception and from there to 3 separate rental units. Place update about your arrived beforehand, as the reception is not occupied 24/7. My room was equipped with electric kettle to make coffee, complimentary cookies and bottle of water. All together i had a very quite time here. Spent one night.

Spacious, clean, and perfectly located with a friendly host.

The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable—perfect for two people. The bathroom was also large, and the location right in the historic center was ideal for exploring. The host was extremely friendly and easy to communicate with.

Nothing major, just a couple of suggestions—adding a light in the entrance corridor would be helpful, as it’s quite dark at night. Also, the electronic lock didn’t work during our stay, so we had to use the key each time, which was a bit inconvenient due to its awkward placement.

Charming hotel in delightful Lucca.

Character of the property. Luxurious appointments. Delicious breakfast in room. Location. Quiet. Comfortable beds. Bathrobe. Friendly, helpful staff. Juliana was kind enough to drive me to the station on account of rain. Recommended restaurants and places to visit. Enjoyed Da Vasco family restaurant.

A fantastic room in a perfect location, with lovely staff, we couldn't have asked for more.

The location was fantastic, so near to the main city centre but down a quiet street. The staff were really helpful and cleaned the room daily, ensured that we had everything we need and enjoyed our stay. The breakfast selection was good, with fruit, bread, pastries and coffee. The room was a great size and very comfortable.

The table in our room was quite small for breakfast.

Everything was excellent. Juliana is the best person, so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was huge and tasty. Room was unique and bed comfortable, excellent sleep. Shower is very powerful and enjoyed very much. This would be our place to stay if we come to Lucca again 🥰

lovely location fabulous room with lovely bath and the hostess could not have been better we had problems with hot water and she turned up in seven minutes

the only quibble with the room is due to the nature of the building being old and in the conservation area it’s Lucca after all there was not an outside window in the main room but when we asked we were offered another room but as we had unpacked we decided to stay but the site states this and I had not read it properly so my fault
