Lendal Tower

Can't say enough about how great a time we had in "the tower"! Two grandparents (took the middle level), 2 young kids (took the first level in twin bed arrangement), and two adults in the top level. For a shower, they had to come down to the ground level and had not one complaint they loved the place so much! Beautifully, thoughtfully furnished to fit the historical tower ambience. Very well equipped kitchen. We did breakfasts and 2 takeout dinners so we could eat up on the roof - amazing! Appliances were clear to use - we did laundry and airdried easily on a provided rack rather than use the drying. Also sat out in the garden for drinks and visiting which was very nice. Turned out to be quieter than I thought would be with the bridge/street location. London was SO noisy we really appreciated the calm - love York and could have stayed the rest of the week. Loved the little box of chocolates and appreciated the coffee, tea and milk in the refrig. We got our exercise up and down the spiral stairway, with good rails, width and lighting. Wouldn't work for someone with access issues. It was a hit for us! Thank you

The only thing I can think of would be better lighting for reading in the middle bedroom. Love the cute little dog lights by the bed, but impossible to read by at night if want to turn off the overheads with one person sleeping.

Unique property in wonderful location.

Alarm at neighboring boat rental went off on several occasions at 3 - 5 am in the morning & no-one was around to turn it off at their business. No one answered their phone # on the gate for the business. Went over during business hours & person there said they would ensure boss would deal with the problem alarm. The alarm continued. Lendal Tower operators were not in any way responsible for this.

We felt the property was an excellent size for the price of the property and is very spacious. The decor is excellent and has been fantastically renovated to a high standard. The kitchen is very well equipped and contains everything you would need to cook for up to 6 people. The location is fantastic and within a short working distance to centralYork, with bus stops nearby as well as a few minutes walk from York train station. The rooftop was the highlight for us and we spent our evenings up there taking in the surroundings and amazing views.

Due to the age of the building, the stairs are very noisy and usually wakes other people up once someone goes up or down the stairs, if guests have different sleeping patterns, this may be an issue. There is poor insulation throughout the property and as such sound travels and conversations can be heard throughout the entire property. Since you cannot open the windows to the property, there is no ventilation upstairs and that means the rooms can get stuffy, we propped the doors open through the day for some air circulation.

Everything! It was fantastic! The only thing we wished for was better access to the roof.
