Comfortable and beautifully room with a great restaurant attached

Beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, wonderful restaurant. The restaurant alone is worth the trip. The entire complex is very cool.

The bathroom was completely soaked every time we took a shower and not enough towels to dry stuff off. Breakfast did not include coffee. We brought our own, but couldn’t make it bc there was no water boiler in the room.

Lovely hotel with amazing interior

The hotel was incredibly decorated and made with high quality materials. It was a pleasure to be in it. If you come in a few weeks/months when the construction work is finished, you’ll have an amazing stay. The staff were very nice.

Unfortunately, there was construction work happening during our stay. There were excavators right outside our balcony. They continued working even between 2-4pm on Friday, and were also working on Saturday. This also affected the water pressure, as there was almost no cold water and we had to shower in boiling water. While this is unrelated to the hotel itself, I don’t think it’s acceptable to place guests in the affected rooms.

Lovey clean centrally located hotel.

We had a very large room,with lots of windows and with a big balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Also our room was a few steps from the restaurant and it was a busy Friday night and the restaurant was fully booked but because we were staying there they made sure we had a table. Also the location was very good. We would recommend it.

Superb

We stayed one night in the hotel for an extremely reasonable price and ate at the restaurant. The hotel is decorated in a modern interpretation of the traditional local style. Our room was well-equipped, spacious and with a balcony (although the view was nothing to write home about, being a not-too distant prospect of the back of a commercial laundry and of its resident guard dog). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom conveniently laid out. Everything had been done with great attention to detail and was very clean. There are even tea and coffee-making facilities in the entrance lobby. It you have limited mobility be warned that there are a lot of steps, both inside the restaurant and outside to get to the rooms, as the complex is perched on the side of a small river valley (no stream evident while we were there). Parking is interesting. The restaurant was excellent, serving local dishes, extremely well-prepared and presented, at very modest prices. The waiting staff were helpful and everything arrived promptly and in a rational order (unusual in Bulgaria). We tried as many dishes as we had capacity for and enjoyed them all. The perlinki were exceptional. Our evening’s enjoyment was completed by a performance from two Rhodopi bag-pipers.

Superb choice with superb experience

This was the best place we have been ever in our last 10 years of traveling. The very personal touch of quality in room design, the room service and the healthy food choices within its restaurant’s menu is making the stay at this hotel a superb experience. We highly recommend hotel “Bulgarche” with its own restaurant to anyone who is visiting Smolyan.

A diamond in the mountains.

The room, the staff, the food in the restaurant and the small attention and care which we received was truly touching. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and they will definitely be seeing us again. A true gem has been discovered.

If I am going to be super picky then I would say the toilet seat in the bathroom was cracked but that's a minor issue

Good choice for Smolyan

The room was excellent, modern and tastefully decorated. The terrace was good if a little spartan....no plants or furnishing. The on site restaurant was very good. The staff were helpful.

The location was central but surrounded by ugly buildings such as a laundry and a car wash! The service was very slow in the restaurant and for checking in but to be fair they seemed short of staff, the same people seemed to be working all the time!

One of the Best Stays in the Country

One of the best stays in the country. All the staff is extremely polite, the rooms are exceptionally clean and well decorated. Very good value for money. The restaurant has an extensive menu of local dishes at good prices, with great presentation. Food is cooked in front of you, staff goes out of their way to tend to all their customers above their expectations. A dinner party happening on an adjacent table all personally went to thank the chef's on their way out - the quality of food is amazing.

Great stay, worth the money, comfy, tasty with some details in management to be sorted out

Great hotel and restaurant style- a lot of thought and enthusiasm was put in, along with money - ethno but at the same time with all modern comforts! The location is good for walks, restaurant menu and kitchen are one of the best in Smolyan. Very clean everywhere, the room was comfy, cosy, with a lot of wood and decorarions with style.

Breakfast included in the stay did not include drinks - I would prefer morning coffee, beverage or tea to be included even if the price is 2-3lv more. It seems petty that way. The parking is crowded in the evening when there are a lot of guest only for the restaurant. One evening, at 20:45 , there was no free room for a guest of the hotel to have dinner - I would recommend planning this in advance by contacting the hotel guests earlier the same day. The colours for the hot and cold water in the bathroom sink were switched which may cause burns, if not careful, especially to children. One of the outer staircases was not properly cleaned of the snow and ice which created discomfort using it.

The location of the hotel and the bed were great.

1. The room was cold, especially in the morning. 2. The coffee at breakfast is PAID!!! We learnt the last day that a cheaper kind of coffee is included but no one informed us beforehand. Furthermore, the breakfast was often little and sometimes old (croissants were 2 days old, for sure). 3. It was noisy from 8 am due to some kind of construction works in the hotel. That was not the relaxing time we hoped for.

Traditional, yet modern

I was very nicely surprised by the interior design -traditional, yet with a very modern touch to it. They told me everything inside was hand-made. I particularly liked the fact that you have the restaurant just next to the place you are staying. Bulgarian cuisine with some traditional dishes characteristic of the Rhodope mountains (don't miss out the patatnik!). Staff was extremely friendly. Krasi was recommending me meals to try and it was worth it trusting him. He also gave me some good advices on how to navigate through the area and where to go each of the days. They even prepared an extra breakfast for me one of the days so I have some to snack on while I am hiking. I will definitely return :)

My room was facing an old building where people would hang tens of long white ropes everyday.. I am still not sure what that was :D
