An exceptionally quiet and comfortable cottage attached to an excellent pub.

The beds were some of the comfiest I have slept in during the past few years!

There's no shop in the village, so it would have been nice to have a few tea bags and/or coffee sachets along with a small carton of milk available for the mornings.

A very enjoyable few days in a lovely property with very friendly hosts.

Spacious and comfortable property fitted with all the equipment you would need, (with the exception of pan lids), which would have been very useful. Very clean throughout. Bathroom was especially nice with soap dispensers and towels provided.

Only one niggle that was a big problem. The horrendous noise from the air conditioning/cooling unit mounted on the external wall immediately adjacent to our small patio was dreadful and could be heard in the bathroom and kitchen area when it was at full speed. This would be a big problem if you wanted to sit on the outside patio in summer.

Very roomy cottage

Staying in the cottage for 4 nights suited us for walking various bits of the Dales Way The bath especially suited me after the days walking!

There was no housekeeping for the 4 days, and downstairs (especially the sofa) smelt of dogs But to be fair the host brought clean towels and air freshener/febreze as soon as I asked Tea coffee and long life milk would be greatly appreciated on arrival, just for a cuppa till we got to the neighbouring village store for supplies

The cottage was lovely and the pub is full of character.nothing is too much trouble for Shelley Dan, Naomi and Hannah to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.food at the fox is amazing thanks Dan .the location is stunning and a perfect base for getting around. We would definitely be booking again in the near future. Thank you Shelly,Dan , Naomi and Hannah for lovely stay 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Lovely cottage

The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived. Everywhere was extremely clean. Comfy beds and a fabulous bathroom. The hodt was really friendly and the cottage which is adjacent to the pub was at the heart of the village. Great base for walking. Parking in the pub carpark which is directly outside the cottage door was a bonus too.

I suppose if I had to moan about something, it would be the size of the bath sheet, barely went around my waist but not their fault my belly is big!

Had a lovely stay and we will be back.

Big, new bathroom with large cubicle and powerful shower. Comfy beds, plenty of drawer and cupboard storage, new soft carpet upstairs. Well equipped kitchen, large television and comfy sofa. Next to the pub for lovely meals. Super friendly staff. All in a secluded, quiet pretty village. Very happy overall.

A great little cottage nicely fitted out with a well equipped kitchen (not that we cooked any more than porridge...). Good food next door at the pub. And a perfect location for a long weekend cycling in the Dales!

It was clean and comfortable- everything that you need for a short break. A very cosy feel to the cottage. Perfectly located attached to a popular country pub that had a very nice atmosphere with very hospitable staff serving good food.

On the whole it was great.

The location was idyllic. Very small hamlet in a picturesque location, very typical of the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was straight behind the pub and our pub hosts were extremely friendly. We had 2 nights of delicious meals with them.

On arriving at the cottage we were met with this continuous noise from what we think was an Air Conditioning unit attached to the cottage wall and had something to do with the pub. We did query it with the pub owner who explained that he had it on a timer and it stopped at about 10 at night. However there also seemed to be some kind of Generator that was on all the time which we could hear whilst we were in bed and this did affect our sleeping on the first night. for the following nights I guess we just got used to it.

Starbotton, a small village in the Yorkshire Dales, is a great location for a walking holiday. The village has limited facilities but does have a perfect pub (The Fox & Hounds) which is next door to the cottage. The staff are really lovely, very welcoming and helpful. The cottage, is cosy and comfortable with good facilities including a modern bathroom and loads of storage space.

Fabulous stay in The Dales with the friendliest of welcomes from the owners and locals

Lovely cozy cottage in the heart of The Dales which offers comfortable accommodation with all the essentials you need home from home. With the pub directly next door, that serves excellent food at very reasonable prices, and walks from your doorstep, you have everything you need for a break away in God’s Own Country. Ian and Karen are lovely and made us feel welcome from the outset as did the local residents. There is a lovely community in the village which is extended to include guests which is very rare and was totally unexpected. We would highly recommend.

If I was being really picky, some slight improvements could include a book of local information for guests, eg suggested walking routes, places to visit, bus timetables etc. We’ve always found these useful in previous places we have stayed. Also some board games, DVDs and books or magazines would also be beneficial for guests for those days where guests just want to chill or the weather drives guests indoors

Ian and staff were so friendly and helpful. The Fox and Hounds was great value for really good meals and drinks. Location amazing for walking and fishing on your doorstep.

Would have preferred darker blinds to main bedroom window. Kept waking up very early. A bin with a lid would be more appropriate in the kitchen.

Amazing weekend in Starbotton for our 40th Wedding Anniversary!

Perfect location in a beautiful village, next to the wonderful Fox & Hounds Inn which was open for outdoor service of drinks and exceptional food! The hosts and staff couldn't have been nicer, everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lovely cottage (with a beautiful bathroom!) that had everything we needed (apart from a tea towel!) The weather was gloriously warm and sunny and we did some lovely walks from the door.

There wasn't anything we didn't like! As a suggestion, some information on local walks, guide books or maps might be nice for future guests.

Love the rabbit hutch

The cottage (aka the rabbit hutch) was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and warm. We were able to park right outisde in the pub's carpark. The location is great. There are loads of walks from the doorstep evidenced by the number of people visiting the area and parking in the villages large car parks. We chose to drive to certain walks and were at Malham Cove in 40 minutes & Ribbledale in 45 in another day. The staff was extremely friendly and ready to serve a few evening pints after a long day of walking. The cottage description needs an update as it also has WiFi now

I think the only thing that could have been improved on is providing a little more cooking equipment and maybe some basic ingredients (salt, pepper, oil...). That's being very critical though. Also maybe the choice of using the single beds as a double rather than completely separate would have been great.
