Warm friendly place

It’s a very nice small room above the Ice cream shop, warm atmosphere place hosted by very nice people, Mario and his wife Katrinka, the owners of the shop where the whole family is busy preparing and serving very tasty ice cream. Great location, you can see the basilica from your window and hear the chimes. It is city centre and close to everything. Do not limit oneself to ice cream, try also Mario’s beer. ;)

All was good, just for other people - there is no elevator, you have to go up the stairs. And it can be noisy in the evenings, but good soundproof windows will minimise the noise.

Brilliant host and facilities but check the noise.

Everything about the venue itself was excellent. The room, the facilities and the breakfast. Mario the host really makes you feel welcome and will treat you to some of his excellent gelato that he makes on the premises. The location is right in the middle of Tongeren opposite the large church.

When your host issues with ear plugs and says it might be a bit noisy you begin to worry. Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of a local event. One of the local bars blasted out heavy bass until 4 am. Impossible to sleep. We were told it was a one off. My advice is to check with the owners first as clearly other people had been issued ear plugs before.

This is an accomodation and staff that are exceptional in everything they do. Friendly, interesting people, and they are totally committed to making you enjoy your stay. The ice cream shop on the ground floor is just the final bonus on top of it all, the best in Belgium. And the location could not be better.

We would be happy to do it again :)

Mario and his wife are really nice. They welcomed us warmly and showed us everything. Mario's wife gave us some tips on sightseeing. We even got an ice cream for free. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The view of the Basikila is breathtaking. Check-in and check-out were easy.

Unfortunately, it was very noisy on Saturday night because there is a pub next door. However, there was a special weekend, so it was louder than normal. So that was also bad luck.

Exceptional

We stayed in the room with the balcony overlooking the square which was really nice. We had a little table to sit and watch the square. Location was great, right above Mario's Family run ice cream shop in the central part of the walking area. Mario was super helpful and friendly.

The really nice rooms are up above the ice cream shop which meant climbing some pretty steep stairs but Marco carried our luggage upstairs for us which was awesome

Romantic and elegant

A fantastic place in the most central point of town. Given the quality, very reasonably priced. Elegance, comfort, and, despite the location, perfect quietude. An ideal place to contemplate Tongeren's Roman and medieval history. Mario and Katinka are amazing hosts. Along other things, I was invited to taste beer which they themselves make. I will be back for sure.

Exceptional

Right in the heart of the town and opposite the cathedral. Balcony room overlooking everything. Mario runs a very happy ice-cream shop downstairs and well designed rooms upstairs.

The market day was on so that meant parking 7 minutes walk away. No big deal.

We loved the location as once parked could easily enjoy the town and the Antique Market on Sunday! The owners are so friendly and welcoming! Rooms are above the Ice Cream shop so we got the best of both worlds as my husband loves ice cream! The Ice Cream is AMAZING!

The parking wasn’t as easy as we hoped, however the owners helped with a map and letting us know we could park free after 6pm out front.

Very welcoming people, absolutely fantastic service, coffee with some superfresh ice-cream (delicious. Don't even think about refusing). The location couldn't be better. Make sure to ask for recommendations for dinner and ask about what to see or do.

Maybe a kettle would be nice, but that's the only thing I can think of.

Amazing view and outstanding hospitality!

The owners made us feel most welcome. Great location and the view to the main church. All dining and drinking places are next to the hotel. And they also make delicious ice cream. Highly recommended.

One of the most delicious stay ever!

Here is the truth: usually, we decide to go spend some days somewhere and then we look for some accomodation, right? Well in Mario's case, this is the opposite: once you had a taste of it - and the ice cream :-) - you will first decide to go spend some nights at Mario's and then organize your activities around it. One of the most delicious - literally - stay we have ever experienced. Beware! Getting a room is difficult. That is the "only" shortcoming I can think of. See you soon Mario ... and team!

Fantastic place

Exceptional welcome from a very friendly owner who went out of the way to help us with parking and local information. The room was beautiful. Comfortable and clean with a stunning view of the church. Fast free WiFi and multi channel TV were both welcome.

Ik heb een erg prettig verblijf hier gehad.

Het ontbijt was meer dan geweldig en erg uitgebreid zodanig dat ik verzocht heb iets minder te presenteren. ik voelde mij bij de eerste keer best wat genant over de luxueze uitvoering.

Het bed is niet echt geweldig....althans dat is persoonlijk. Ik houd meer van een stevig matras. Verder wil ik aanbevelen het gebruik van een klein koelkastje en in de omschrijving van Booking.com vermelden dat er een trapopgang is zonder lift!!!

Uitzonderlijke ligging in het hart van Tongeren! Zeer warm en persoonlijk onthaal door het gastvrije koppel Mario en Katinka. Bovendien de heerlijkste pannekoeken en ijs van Belgie😊 Prijs/kwaliteit top!

Kamer is wat gehorig, maar er liggen oordopjes klaar op het nachtkastje dus we hebben dit zeker niet als storend ervaren.

De badkamer, vooral douchecabine. Liep schuin af en was spiegelglad. Er lag géén anti-slipmatje in. Héél gevaarlijk!!!!!

Mario ist supernett und macht eine gründliche Einweisung bzgl. Zimmer und Einrichtung. Er gibt auch Tipps zu Restaurants und ist bei der Reservierung behilflich.

Die Vorhänge könnten etwas besser das Licht von außen abhalten - Schlafzimmer ist nachts nicht ganz dunkel.
