Being very picky - grill didn't work, a bathroom radiator didn't work and no potato peeler. First two reported to owner, so hopefully those get fixed. Very picky negatives.

Cozy, relaxing,

The cleanliness, the location, the quiet, very comfortable , had everything you needed to feel at home, Joe even put the fire on for our arrival making the lovely and warm

Really warm, comfortable and spacious accommodation. Rooms were large, all the facilities excellent. Newly decorated, well equipped, lots of nice furnishing and features. Little details like having the woodburner stove lit for our arrival, a welcome gift of a bottle of prosecco and shortbread, and even a christmas tree made it feel really homely. And for the price, even off season... great value. Also a really lovely location, though the cumbrian weather meant we couldn't get to do much walking. And pretty convenient for shopping in Carlisle. Overall we had a great weekend break and a highly recommended property.

Honestly nothing. No reflection on the property, but there was a power cut one morning affecting lots of properties. But Joe, our host, kept us updated and it wasnt a problem, as everything back on well before we returned that afternoon.

A great house in a quiet village

The house was fabulous and very spacious in a quiet location. It was finished to a very high standard throughout. A large comfortable lounge/dining room and kitchen. We were able to access streaming services like Netflix on the TV. Three bedrooms, one en-suite, the beds were very comfortable. Our host left us Prosecco, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. The small garden opposite was ideal for the lovely weather we had. There was a private parking space. Port Carlisle is very small but it was a very scenic place with walks along the Solway. Only a mile to eating places in Bowness. The King’s Arms was very good.

Wow! The perfect place to spend six days near Carlisle.

The customer service provided by our host Joe was simply outstanding. He answered any questions we raised promptly and professionally and provided information on local attractions and eateries prior to our stay. Three spacious bedrooms. Very comfortable beds Plenty of hot water and soft fluffy towels. The house, although old, is spotlessly clean and is superbly equipped with all the cooking facilities needed for a six day stay plus washing machine and dryer. Parking is just outside the door. The property is situated somewhat off the beaten track and is exceptionally quiet. When we arrived Joe left us a bottle of champers, milk tea and coffee which was very welcome after a long trip. The roads to the house are a little challenging but we soon got the hang of them and were thrilled to be driving alongside what was part of Hadrian's Wall and through the picturesque villages of Burgh by Sands and Monkhill. A little further on is the small village of Bowness which has a delightful pub. All in all a superb experience. Thank you Joe!

Not a complaint but rather a suggestion. It would be really nice to have a Guest compendium with information on the unit, how to work the appliances etc. Also perhaps a bit of local history and directions to places of interest, eateries and nearest shops. We would have loved to have read more on the fascinating local area and historic villages.

Lovely cottage

The cottage was lovely and clean. Very spacious with 3 bed rooms and 3 bathrooms. Beds are very comfy. Kitchen was well equiped and basic provsions and a nice surprise were waiting for us on arrival. The cottage is well positioned for visiting the area, which is lovely for walks and steeped in history. Also a nice bar in the next village where you'll receive a warm welcome. Really enjoyed our few days.

Excellent spot with great value

Incredible value for this haven just off the Hadrian's Wall Path, in the peaceful Port Carlisle. We opted to stay here three nights and use taxis as we finished up the last three days of the walk (thus allowing us not to have to carry all our things in our pack, and to stay in this delightful cottage!) Excellent location, and an easy and pretty 1.2m walk from Bowness-on-Solway.

The cottage was beautifully decorated, modern with every convenience. Every consideration provided for toiletries / dishwasher and cleaning products. Perfect setting with a beautiful countryside and very peaceful. Many thanks for the complementary chocolates and wine. Would definitely recommend this high standard beautiful cottage for a holiday.
