Overall, the location and atmosphere were wonderful, but the lodge would benefit greatly from a deeper clean and some ba

We recently stayed at Woodland View at Kaowood Country Park and absolutely loved the peaceful, remote setting. The lodge is nicely spaced away from others, which made the stay feel private and incredibly relaxing. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for unwinding, and the cabin itself was warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable too, which made for great nights’ sleep.

Unfortunately, the lodge was let down by several cleanliness and maintenance issues that really need attention. It didn’t appear to have been cleaned properly for some time: there were cobwebs on the door frames, thick dust inside the radiators, and dust on the walls. We also found a Pringles lid left in the bedroom, and behind the sofa was dusty with bits of rubbish left behind it. The en‑suite shower room had visible mould, which was disappointing. The sofa itself was very low and uncomfortable, and the main bathroom shower barely produced more than a dribble of water. We also noticed that the emergency torch in the hallway didn’t work and seemed to have a dead battery.

Could have been lovely

The location was excellent. It felt like the middle of nowhere but was only a short drive to shops and pubs. The hot tub was ready when we got there. Checked in and out easily.

Huge pot holes were the first issue. When we got in the chalet we quickly realised the water was not working and contacted the number provided via txt as requested. We were told there was a pipe problem locally and hopefully it would be fixed soon. Although this was not the parks fault, there was no heads up, although their quick reply would suggest they were already aware of the problem, and no offer of bottled water. Our next issue was a small blood stain on a pillow. When the water was back on, we tried the ensuite shower only to discover that the temperature dial was broken, the shower would start at a reasonable temperature and then go beyond tolerable. The shower in the main bathroom just dribbled. It dribbled all over the floor. We used towels to dry it but then discovered the heating was not working and we couldn't dry them. Although it was not really an issue, it looked like someone had punched the fridge multiple times and the lower shelf in the fridge door was broken off.

It was a lovely place to stay but compared to other cabin places I’ve stay and for the money not the best I’ve been to .

The showers one was really hot the other one was cooler but the shower head needed replacing and the pressure wasn’t very good in that one

It was our first little break our children in 6 years and it was everything we looked for. Quiet, cosy and comfortable. It was surrounded by woods and the lodge was immaculate.

Poor

The lodge wasn't clean, had to wipe all kitchen sides down and they were filthy. Lots of dirt build up around taps in bathrooms and the bedding was wet also cigarette ends still in ashtray on picnic table. The only positive was the Hot tub and even then we couldn't get it to work on the second night. We only used the lodge as somewhere to sleep as we couldn't wait to get up and out in the morning, such a shame as with a bit of care and experienced housekeeping this could be perfect.

2 night stay woodland View

Excellent stay very quiet just what we wanted the kaowood team were great, not that we saw them much, the hot tub was very clean and ready for us on arrival to top it off the accommodation was spotless and very cosy.

If I'm honest there wasn't anything to dislike.

Nice place for a family

Lovely spacious cabin. The jacuzzi seemed clean and taken care of. The lodge itself was very clean,nothing wrong with the facilities.

Checking in instructions could be added as a part of message that comes prior,there was no one at the reception,and no one responded to message in booking.com. so we just let ourselves in the property. There was no hand sope,which seems to be an essential,haven't had that before in any other accommodation. Didn't spot a hair dryer either anywhere. It was absolutely freezing in the lodge. The radiators didn't work. The instruction suggested to turn up the nozzles (most of the radiators didn't even have one) which we did,but still heating didn't work. We woke up with only having 12 degrees in the lodge. And after you have just come from the jacuzzi,it is rather unpleasant when it is cold. Might not be an issue in warmer months,but early February this completely changed our experience to extremely unpleasant. It is also not as private as seemed from the pictures,the lodges are close by,and our neighbours seemed rather loud. As mentioned in other comments,WiFi isn't available,which wasn't a problem for us,but could be an essential for some guests.

Just a few minor things that would make the lodge perfect . Sofa and chairs a little old and uncomfortable , could do with updating .. lacking a few utensils, tongs , forks .. no place mats and no cleaning liquids or hoover .

Perfect escape

Amazing location, based in woodland fully lighted paths at night. Hottub was ready and hot on arrival. Lodge was very clean and had everything we required.. and lodge was very comfortable. We are already looking to book again.

The location for me sold this. But also the hot tub that was well maintained. The lodge was very clean on arrival, had just been done as the floor were still wet!

No-one there on arrival. Instructions in the window very unclear. Sign saying see instructions on other window with an arrow pointing in the opposite direction to where the instructions were so totally missed them until we walked past it the next day. Phoned the number however and were told key left at lodge in key safe which they were. Furniture dated. Hole in dining room chair, blind in the kitchen broken. No Battery in the clock. No bin bag left in the bin for us, or dish washer tablets, just 1/2 would be ideal. Also the wifi only works from main reception. Poor signal and no wifi in the lodge. Which was fine for us and what we wanted anyway.

Exceeded

The cabin was alot more than we expected. Cabin was twice the size we thought it was going to be. All cooking and eating utensils are supplied. Decent kitchen area and 2 good bathrooms. Hot tub is warm and running ready for use and is private away from passers by of which we didn't actually see.
