Recommended stay for relaxation and something different to the norm.

Nice location to get away, peaceful. Hot tub was very relaxing and the children enjoyed the lodge. A little drive to get to but thats the joy of getting away from everyday life.

lovely woodland, peaceful area. spacious enough for 6 of us. nice fresh crisp white bedding. hot tub was a lovely addition. staff are lovely.dog friendly.

only four chairs, only 5 sets of cutlery, which made a meal for six hard work (especially Christmas dinner). when you shower, no matter how careful you are, water goes all over the bathroom floor as the design of shower doesn’t really work, I think this is the reason for the damp smell in the lodge. it was easier to shower outside in the shower by hot tub but we had to clean up all the leaves from that area first ourselves before using. there are literally no hooks to hang up towels (there is one by hot tub) but none inside the lodge, not even in bathroom. which makes drying towels/wet clothes hard. the radiator/towel rail was not working in bathroom. the tv remote missing, wasn’t much fun looking for something to watch using the buttons on the tv. overall, needs a bit of updating, the back of the sofa cushion was ripped, there are tears in the wallpaper and there is no blind/curtain to cover the glass main lodge door so no privacy in the evening, there is also no blind in the bathroom either. an extra bath mat would be handy, as after the first person showers, the floor and mat is wet for the duration. I’d recommend to take a few more mats/towels to use at the front door to wipe feet on as outside the door is rather muddy and leaves get dragged in the lodge from feet. there is a small brush to clean these up but isn’t great when sweeping the whole lodge, maybe a hoover in the cupboard would be a nice edition and make it easier on other guests. there was quite a bit of dust on the banister, meaning it hasn’t had the full “covid clean” that was stated on booking. despite these small teething problems, we had a fantastic stay, the staff are friendly, and great value for money. we would definitely stay again.

All in all, it was an absolutely despicable holiday.

We booked Primrose 20 for 4 nights in August. Upon arrival we were greeted with the strong smell of damp throughout the whole lodge. The floors were dirty and there were hairs in the lounge that my 14 year old son found (who usually notices nothing!) The fridge door handle was loose and upon opening snapped right off. It also stank. The freezer was so iced up there was no space for very much food. There was hardly any cutlery and tableware. The bathroom had mould in the shower and would run hot and cold every 20 seconds! There was no lock on the door. The stench of damp even penetrated our clothes and the lodge was so damp that towels never dried fully. The headboard in the bedroom had collapsed and upon closer inspection it was being held on the wall by bathroom sealant! The children’s bedroom had mould on the ceiling and my daughters mattress had springs sticking out. We tried on numerous occasions to call the emergency number but not once in the 4 nights that we were there did we get a response. All in all, it was an absolutely despicable holiday. We paid a premium price for budget end accommodation and service. Extremely disappointed as we had waited the whole year to have our one week off and we went home frustrated and exhausted rather then rejuvenated and relaxed. Book at your peril. You have been warned

The location was secluded and quiet which was what we wanted. Decor was of a good standard and everything was clean. Hot tub was lovely and inspected every morning before use.

A play area for children would make a nice addition to the park.
