Lovely host very welcoming and helpful.
Great location within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and train station.
Would have been good to have a bath mat to walk out onto after having a shower rather than using the hand towel to prevent floor getting wet.

I had never been to Plymouth in Devon before...and found it to be an excellent holiday destination...the weather was fantastic as well apart from 1day of rain and lightning .
The landlord of the Lamplighter guest house I was staying in,called Nigel, and his two lady assistants were brilliant....I can thoroughly recommend their "full English breakfast" as an excellent start to the day.Superb.
I found it a Lidl hard to sleep at night as I was in a bedroom different to what I was used to at home for the rest of the year...but next time I go on holiday I shall be better prepared for this.

Welcoming and friendly proprietor who made me feel at peace straight away. It was an auspicious weekend and I am delighted to have chosen this place to stay at. Excellent location.
I wish I had time to stay in the area longer.

The Location was good
The room had bed bugs we were bitten , barely slept , by midnight we were awake. Immediately called the owner who attended to us. What was annoying is him pretending not to be aware . However we found proof that the room was being treated for bedbugs took all the evidence , videos of bedbugs moving on the bed , how we were swallowen and proof to show that the building is being treated for bed bugs

Decent breakfast. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Efficient staff.
Lots of stairs up to my 'attic'. Some rather noisy fellow guests but can't blame the premises for that.

English people therefore know what English people are looking for and the standards they expect.

We (4 adults) stayed in room 9 on the top floor. 3 single beds and a double. Plenty of room and the beds were clean and comfortable.
Nice welcome by the host and street parking outside ( host provides a parking permit).
It is located just a few minutes walk from the front.
Plenty to eat at breakfast too.
Nothing to dislike.

Comfortable bed, and plenty of room for what I needed
Faint smell of cigarettes in the room upon arrival but didn’t last long. Breakfast was quite small on day one but I asked for more on day two and the staff were very accommodating

HONESTLY NOTHING.
NIGEL DID TRY TO MAKE THINGS A LITTLE BETTER I SUPPOSE. HE TOLD US HE HAD NOT PUT THE COST OF THE ROOM THROUGH ALTHOUGH AT THIS POINT THAT WAS IRRELEVANT AS BOOKING.COM HAD HAD THEIR MONEY AND WE KNEW WE WOULD NOT BE ENTITLED TO A REFUND.
45 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE HOTEL ON MONDAY 4TH SEPT, AN EMAIL WAS SENT TO US FROM NIGEL, THE MANAGER, POINTING OUT THAT THE LOCATION OF THE BOOKED ROOM WAS IN THE ATTIC AND THAT THIS MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEAR ON THE BOOKING.COM SITE THAT THERE WAS NO LIFT AND IT WAS A TOP FLOOR ROOM.
BREAKFAST WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR CLIENTS WITH DOGS UNLESS THE ANIMAL WAS LOCKED IN THE CAR OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT. AS SUGGESTED BY NIGEL, THE MANAGER OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. NOWHERE AT ALL TO EAT SEPERATELY FROM THE RESTAURANT.
LOCATION OF THE ROOM WAS NOT DESCRIBED OR THE LACK OF A LIFT BEFORE ARRIVAL. WE BOOKED ON A FRIDAY EVENING VERY LATE ALMOST MIDNIGHT, AND ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, HAVING TRAVELLED SINCE MORNING SO NO ONE TO CHECK WITH BEFORE ARRIVAL. HAVING BOOKED ON THE BASIS THAT THE ROOM FEE WAS NOT RETURNABLE WE FELT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO STAY OR LOSE ÂŁ210, A SIZEABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO LOSE. WE HAD BOOKED A 2 NIGHT STAY.
THE PROPERTY WAS IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION THAT SUITED US ENTIRELY. PARKING WITH A BLUE BADGE WAS EASY.
I HAVE REDUCED MOBILITY, AND I WAS THEREFORE UNABLE TO GET TO THE ATTIC FAMILY ROOM, SUITABLE FOR 5, WITH IT'S OWN BATHROOM, THAT WE HAD BOOKED. WE WERE OFFERED TWO SINGLE ROOMS ON DIFFERENT FLOORS, ONE FIRST ONE SECOND WITH A SECOND FLOOR LANDING BATHROOM SHARED WITH THE REST OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. MY HUSBAND HAS ALZEIMERS AND THEREFORE HAVING HIM ON A DIFFERENT FLOOR WAS JUST AS UNACCEPTABLE. I HAD, HOWEVER, BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY HOURS AND COULD NOT FACE THE PROSPECT OF RINGING AROUND TO FIND AN ALTERNATIVE.
WE WENT OUT TO DINNER AND UPON RETURN NIGEL GREETED US STATING GREAT NEWS SOME GUESTS HAD UNEXPECTEDLY LEFT AND HE NOW HAD A DOUBLE ROOM WITH IT'S OWN TINY BATHROOM ON THE SECOND FLOOR. MY HUSBAND SAID IT WAS THE SMALLEST BEDROOM HE HAD EVER SLEPT IN. WE HAD NOT STAYED ANYWHERE WITHOUT OUR OWN BATHROOM SINCE COLLEGE IT WASTHE BEST SCENARIO.
THE ONLY WAY WE COULD HAVE AVAILED OF THE INCLUDED COOKED BREAKFAST WITH THE DOG WOULD BE TO EAT AT DIFFFERENT TIMES SEPERATELY. UNUSUAL AND NOT EXACTLY A COMFORTABLE PROPOSAL FOR ANY COUPLE. WHEREVER WE HAVE BEEN BEFORE THERE HAS BEEN SOMEWHERE WHERE WE COULD EAT OUT OF THE DINING ROOM. DOGS WELCOME? NO, DOGA BARELY TOLERATED. WE LEARNED FROM IT.

It was a good location for town centre and the hoe.
I would liked if there had been a mirror in the room. The option of a fan would have been good as it was very warm.
