Wonderful place. The hosts were fantastic and couldn't do enough, whether that was free water bottles, or driving me to the restaurant in the evening and the train station the following morning. The onsen is a special experience, and the room was comfy.

fantastic typical Japanese experience. hotel is run by a couple who are extremely helpful and caring. We had an awesome stay and would strongly recommend the lodgin for anyone who wants a truly personal and traditional Japanese experience.

The owners were amazing offering picking us up when we arrived at the bus stop near the hotel and also helping us with transport to connecting points helping us get to the attractions more easily. The ryokan is also a very cozy place, and our family really enjoyed staying there. The onsen baths were good and we liked that we could spend time there only us. The water was very nice and warm. We forgot something in our room when we checked out, and they contacted us afterwards offering to send it to our next destination. The package arrived two days later, and the item was carefully packaged nicely. Thanks for a lovely stay!

As others have said, the couple that run the establishment are FANTASTIC! They offerred us rides and drove us to bus stops and train stations. They really go above and beyond! The private onsen was a delight as well.

As others have said, the place is 115 years old. So don't expect brand new and modern, but everything was clean and well-maintained. I consistently have back problems, so sleeping on the beds wasn't the most comfortable, but they were cozy and probably the softest of all the beds we had on our two week stay.
