Ypres and wonderful apartment

Lovely hosts and location. Apartment was great and spotlessly clean which is a massive plus from me. The hosts run Den Olifant which is a fabulous welcoming restaurant where we had a wonderful meal. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from Ypres centre which is stunning. We really enjoyed walking the ramparts and along the waters edge. Reuben was amazing when we needed help, thank you so much.

Watch out in local car parks - our car got towed. Make sure you read or use your phone to translate the Flemish/Dutch parking signs. Seems this happens quite a lot in Belgium.

The Best Host and the Best Place to Stay in Ypres

Loved every aspect of stay, the location was simply great, a short walk to the centre of town and the bars and restaurant and of course the Menin Gate, large clean and spacious apartment with excellent wifi, well equipt kitchen and little presents on arrival. The very best part of the experience was the host, we have travelled a lot but this was the best experience ever, nothing was too much trouble and everything was clear and easy to understand, we cannot thank him enough and as the host also owns the restaurant below the apartment, this was another bonus. Cannot recommend this place enough, the best place to stay in Ypres.

Fantastic location, lovely big warm apartment which was spotlessly clean with everything you need, Ruben and Margo left a nice bottle of bubbly for us on arrival and there was an honesty. Their restaurant below was great with beautiful tasty food and a good selection of beverages, we were served by Ruben so can confirm he's really nice guy..

The property was so comfortable, we didn’t want to leave lying in the bath at night, looking at the stars, comfortable furniture to sit in everywhere Eating fantastic food in the restaurant below having an afternoon wine at the back of the restaurant in the sunshine, watching the children play Clean tidy everything you could possibly want if you wish to cook staff were fantastic. The owners are such a gorgeous couple with wonderful people working for them nothing is too much trouble. The decor is fun and a touch, quirky just perfect couldn’t get a better location, walk out the door to everywhere Thank you from Aus and UK

This is a beautiful place. Ruben - the owner - was super helpful, friendly and generous. Beds very comfortable. Bathrooms lovely. Kitchen very well equipped. Walk into the museum and Menin Gate quickly. There’s a lot of stairs for someone who is less able so just one thing to be conscious of. Having said that, my 82 year old Mum managed them! The breakfast is fantastic - very generous and delicious.

On a 3rd visit to Ypres this is a great little find. Lovely and roomy in a great location. Very quaint. They are a lot of stairs but this was already pointed out. We didnt use street parking but there is plenty in the town. Instructions to get in all good. Well worth a visit

Well this was funny and annoying. The alarm had been set incorrectly so we set off a number of time to dismay of the neighbours. Finally got sorted after a couple of calls. Also the upstairs shower door doesnt seal when closed. So turned into a wet room

Really was the icing on the cake of our holiday in the south of France only an hour from Tunnel.

My friend's young daughter told her friends on social media that this was the best place she had ever stayed in - better than Buckingham Palace! Location was perfect (5 mins from Town Hall & Menin Gate) and hosts very welcoming with on street parking opposite (but you need a blue disc to cheat the system). Facilities really excellent - the sort of accommodation you wished you owned - with owners' vegan restaurant on ground floor (closed unfortunately due to holidays during our stay).

This is a loft apartment - so two flights of narrow stairs to climb with luggage - and internet was slow and intermittent. Apparently a problem in the town rather than the hosts wifi which was working well with strong signal.

Het was plezant in den olifant

Twee kleine gezinnen met kinderen kunnen hier perfect terecht. Alles dik in orde, mooie stijl, proper, goede faciliteiten en de kinderen vonden het aanwezige speelgoed geweldig. 's Avonds een Westvleteren die we in de ochtend bij de paters afhaalden, Hitster en daarna Netflix en chill. Heerlijk. Broodjes bij de bakker om de hoek gehaald, daar kochten we ook ranzige melk die meteen met een glimlach vervangen werd door de gastheer. Onze kinderen waren ooit redelijk lawaaierig, waarvoor onze excuses, maar geen klachten gehad. 6 sterren!

Top top top!

Een fantastisch verblijf, perfect gelegen bij lieve gastheer Ruben. We werden heel vriendelijk ontvangen en hebben er heerlijk gegeten (van het ontbijt dat je persoonlijk wordt geserveerd in de loft tot lunch/diner in het restaurant )! Geen geluidsoverlast, rustig gelegen vlakbij het centrum en een grote parking. Wij komen terug!

Zeer goede bedden , veel ruimte in de woonkamer . Op aanvraag kregen we een ontbijt boven in onze loft .Zeer vriendelijke mensen , het is een aanrader.

Vele trappen om tot boven te geraken , mensen die slecht te been zijn kunnen hier best rekening mee houden .
