Kagetsuen

The private onsen was nice. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean. The location was nice. We saw Mt. Fuji from its parking lot (on the clear day) and took some good pictures.

The room was a bit old. The facility looked a bit outdated. The price was not the cheapest in the area.

The breakfast was nice, staff was great and very helpful, location is good since it is walking distance to lake Ashi and very close to bus station that takes you to other areas of Hakone. The private onsens were available to use whenever you like, and there was always one that's free.

Cleanliness was not on a good level. A provided towel in the room was stained and the toilet seat was also stained when we checked in. Another thing I did not like is that we were not informed that the cleaning staff would enter our room during our stay when we did not request it. They should either inform you of that, or they should ask or wait for you to request it when you leave the room for the day.

How beautiful kept it was. The gardens welcomed us and demonstrated the care and attention that was taken to care for their long standing establishment.

The staff and how so clean things were.

The hotel was comfortable, and the private onsen were nice with lots of amenities. The breakfast was decent with a variety of options, though you could only choose from 2 times to attend which was very limiting.

We arrived at about 4:30 pm, and when we asked about dinner, we were told by the man at the front desk that it was by reservation only and that we weren't able to make a reservation for that evening. Having just traveled from Vietnam that morning to this remote hotel, with two teen boys who eat quite a lot, that came as a shock. We asked if we could get food delivered and were told no. The man at the front desk offered no solutions or suggestions, and basically just walked away from us. We were left with packaged food from the gift shop, which definitely did not suffice as a meal for my family. I would have appreciated some sort of notification prior that we needed to make reservations for dinner so that we could have, as many other hotels had done on this trip.
