Rooms by Maes y mor Town Centre

This is my go to hotel when I'm in Aberystwyth. Check in is so easy and quick. The room was superb. Very clean and the bed was comfortable. Great location to the town and beach. The kitchen was clean and tidy as was the bathroom.

The room was really cold when I arrived. A heater was provided but it did take a while to warm the room up.

Easy access arrangements on arrival. We only needed a bed for the night, so this met our requirements, Very inexpensive and great location. Shared bathrom but no problem in this instance. Kitchen available if required.

Ready for some modernisation. Scaffold up prevented use of its car park.

Location very good, host's very good, price excellent, parking good, very comfortable bed and everything clean and tidy.

The location

When we got access to our room there was an instant overpowering cloying citrusy smell that got straight to the back of your throat and gave me an instant headache. We tried to hunt down the source of the smell and in the process found left behind items of clothing in pretty much every draw. The only thing I found was a leaking bottle of insect repellent in the wardrobe that could have been the culprit, so we threw it away in the kitchen and opened all the windows while we headed out for dinner for a few hours. When we got back the room still smelled really bad and it was pretty late by this point so we decided we couldn’t stay there and had to find somewhere else to stay out of town a bit. When we got to our alternate location we discovered that the luggage that had been left in the room (still inside our suitcases) had taken on the horrible smell from the room so we had to dump all of our clothes in the bath to soak and go and buy new clothes etc for while we were away. The forgotten clothes in the draw and the fact that the bedsheets under the duvet were very crumpled also didn’t give us confidence that the room had been cleaned/ bedsheets changed. I messaged the owners through booking.com on the night we left and still haven’t heard anything back 2 days later.

Room was cosy and felt clean. Bathroom was fine. I was grateful for the kettle and drink making facilities. I was a little anxious about the shared bathroom but had no need to be. Nice to have quality internet access. Other tenants were quiet. I liked having a comfortable arm chair to sit in. Location near the town centre and beachfront was excellent. Though there was no breakfast provided there is a very good arrangement with the local pub to have a lovely breakfast at a greatly reduced price.

Only temporarily while the scaffolding is up. There was something flapping during the night on the scaffolding which kept me awake for a while but that can’t be helped.

A pity that the hotel was not able to provide indicated car parking because of scaffolding.

Good location and clean, comfortable room. The price was very reasonable and good value for money. Good communication from the hosts.

We were moved at the last minute to a different room because one of the buildings required renovation unexpectedly. The rooms were nice but there was not much tea and milk provided for a 2 day stay and also no car parking available. They did inform me in advance that the car park was closed because of the maintenance work though.

Kitchen space was an additional bonus.

Great value for money, and location was pretty much right on the pier, so central for everything the town has to offer. Having a private bathroom was great. Availability of the kitchen and facilities was also useful. Access and check in was easy. Overnight stay was quiet for a guest house which meant a good night's sleep.

Room was a bit dated and worn, and the layout was cramped/unconventional (but as shown in photos so no issue). Bed mattress needs replacing in my opinion, felt like the springs had gone and was misshapen.

Central location, good parking, good facilities.

The room and front door slamming when people were coming and going. The two men who entered our room at 10.15pm via a door in the back of the room due to a cock up at their check in!! Didn’t feel safe after that.

Perfectly positioned in the town, free parking, good value for money.

From the moment I got here hosts very helpful getting me in and to my room lovely room with TV coffee tea kettle nice bed comfy to sleep on free WiFi for everyone here a lovely stay will definitely come back one day lovely shower room with toilet

Convenient location. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen facilities were good but cleanliness determined by residents, so variable. Matthew very quick to respond to messages from booking through to stay.

The bedroom was rather tired and in need of a revamp and good clean. Divans were shredded, redundant wall heater taking up space. Fittings in en-suite corroded/rusty.

I liked the kitchen. It was easy enough to get into the house. The wi-fi was brilliant.

I didn't like that the bed was uncomfortable.

The room that we had was cosy and very well located for the train station, town centre and beach. We had a little outdoor patio seating area which was a bonus.

Had parking off the street. Super easy to find. Most contactable and pleasant hosts. Just what we looked for. Exactly what we needed. Spotless rooms and facilities. Perfect!!

Kitchen facilities were excellent. Room was spacious and clean. Two comfortable chairs in the window to relax. Kitchen and bathroom (with lovely shower)not far from the room. Good value for money. The breakfast offer at the local pub was an excellent discount for guests.

The location with parking, I could hear the sea with the window open in our room..The shared bathroom and kitchen wasn't an issue..Other guests were lovely and friendly. I had a change of plans and me son came with me in the end. Matthew kindly supplied a mattress and bedding for us.
