La Tour du Lion

The rooms are in a beautiful historic building; but bearing that in mind, access to the rooms is via a steep narrow staircase. The rooms are uniquely and individually decorated; we stayed in the Mouljn Rouge room. The artwork was ‘interesting’ and I’ll leave it to the imagination bearing in mind the room name! The room and bathroom were enormous with a roll top bath. The staff were professional and I needed my rusty French as that was the only language spoken; fair enough. Overall, a very pleasant two night stopover in this hotel.

We loved the historic building and the room was incredible. If you like older buildings, this is a perfect place to stay. The location is fabulous, in the heart of the village. We hadn't booked for supper and although they were super busy, they made sure we got a table. The food is great here too.

The stairs and floors are uneven as you would expect in such a beautiful old building. We loved this as it adds to the character, but if you have mobility issues it could be a problem.

The historic building was extremely charming, the room was huge with a shower room and separate toilet in the turret. The bistro downstairs was excellent, the staff were lovely and breakfast was delicious.

The ancient lock on our door was very difficult to lock and we were there in the middle of the heatwave so a fan would have been a welcome addition (although I doubt being too hot in this property is often a problem).

The customer service for the hotel. The property is basically a restaurant with a few rooms. The whole focus is on the restaurant. We had a major problem on arrival, because of road closures and we didn’t know how to find the recommended car park. The hotel refused to help us because they were too busy with the restaurant.
