Comfy
Staff sending me and my partner to a occupied room
9.0 / 10.0
The staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were not happy with the original room allocated, as the window would not close properly and the road noise was disturbing. The following day we were given a room on the quieter side, no quibble at all. The chef and restaurant staff do a brilliant job and we had no complaints about the food, from breakfast choices to the evening meals. The presentation was spot on and the prices of the menu was very fair.
The park and ride is a few minutes walk away, has a great price, £2.50 for a day rider ticket, and busses run every 15 minutes. Just keep an eye on the last bus out of the city centre...
Nothing.

Warm welcome. Great pool. Comfy room with streaming options on the tv.
The hotel reception was a little hit and miss on whether someone would be there. The breakfast was good but some of the plates were dirty.

For the price this was an excellent hotel, the room was big, the bed was big and the mattresses were great. We used the pool and that was also nice. We didn't eat so cannot comment on the food
The changing rooms were very shabby, loose tiles in our bathroom

There wasn't a lot of variety on the evening menu.

Good breakfast although we had to wait both mornings for food to be restocked. One coffee machine was not working either. Reception and bar area was clean but understaffed as reception guy also had to come over and serve at bar
Rooms were very tired looking, needed decorating and room smelt very damp. Pillows were lumpy and no shower curtain so bathroom floor got soaked. It was rather dirty in the room

Great location.
Staff at desk overcharged us for our stay, so we then had to speak to booking.com to be refunded.

The rooms were next to each other as we requsted, very much appreciated, and had everything we needed. They were quite small - but we had booked compact doubles. The hotel contacted us to see if we wanted to upgrade but without seeing pictures it was difficult to know what we were up-grading to.
The staff were fabulous very friendly, the lady on reception was lovely.
We ate in the restaurant twice as the food was really nice.
The bed was rock hard, breakfast lacked variety - no scrambled eggs and limited cheese and meat selection. Other than that we got what we paid for.

nice clean hotel, lovely breakfast and perfect for visiting Chester City Centre as the hotel is right next door to the park and ride.
Nothing worse than getting in the shower to find the soap and shampoo dispensers are empty. (take your own) The room was really warm, for some reason the staff seem to like turning the radiator up to max every morning?

Nice quiet area
Good food
The flushing system in my room wasn’t functioning properly and there was no phone to the reception
The dinner menu was limited on Christmas even and only got to know it when it was time to order

🚨 SERIOUS GUEST SAFETY FAILURE – WOULD NOT RECOMMEND 🚨
⭐️ If I could give this hotel minus stars, I would.
I stayed at this hotel on Friday 12th December while attending a Christmas event in Chester. What occurred during my stay was extremely distressing and has left me feeling unsafe.
I left the hotel at approximately 7:30pm. When I returned later that evening, it was clear that someone had entered my room and stolen three designer items (including bags they had seen me arrive with), cash, and my bank cards. My personal belongings had also been removed and emptied across the bed, clearly indicating the room had been searched.
When I immediately reported this to the staff member on duty, I was extremely upset and in distress. The response I received was simply “I don’t know how that has happened”. There was no empathy, no reassurance, and no apology.
I returned to my room, however no staff member came to check the room, ask questions, or assess the situation. When I asked if I could change rooms due to feeling unsafe, I was told there were no rooms available, with no further support or alternatives offered.
At 3am, due to feeling unsafe, I checked myself out of the hotel. During this interaction, I was asked “remind me what room again”, followed by “ok love”. Again, there was no apology, no concern shown, and no reassurance provided.
I was later informed by the hotel manager on Tuesday 16th December that my room had been accessed at 19:57 using a Mastercard. I was told they were unsure how this Mastercard was created, while also confirming that staff members are the only individuals who have access to these Mastercards. I was also informed that only three staff members were working that evening.
I was further advised that the matter would not be investigated internally due to HR-related reasons, which I found extremely concerning given the seriousness of the incident.

Staff help. They were very helpful and taught us to use park and ride. That saved us a lot of money going back and forth to the city center
Everything was great

Staff fantastic on front desk and helped us arrange a late check-out as husband unwell. At breakfast, they offered to make pancakes for the children which they LOVED. There was no black pudding at the hot food self serve and later on the man working in that area, remembered I’d asked if there was anymore an he brought some over on a plate, so kind.
Grouting yellowing and crumbling in bathroom, lamps either side of double bed didn’t work, loud dj.

Location, leisure club, staff and breakfast were very good.
Room was very basic, shower in the room was not great but it worked and was hot.

Room was equipped with everything potentially needed - hairdryer, iron etc. Good space for a smaller compact room. Nice that the use of the gym, sauna etc was included in the package of room booking. All staff were very friendly
All information advised check in was 3pm onwards. We arrived at 3pm to check in and we're advised they were just finishing cleaning the room so asked if we could give it 10 minutes and then head up to the room. We gave around 20 minutes and went up to find they were still cleaning the room, us going up meant they rushed to finish the room leaving multiple things in the room they should of taken with them. The rooms are not very private in relation to adjacent rooms. In our room we could hear the conversations being had in the room next to us over trying to watch the tv. This meant that if we were trying to sleep and the people next door were still up and talking this was all we could hear, made it difficult to sleep due to the noise

Big rooms clean tidy reception
Nose from other people round the hall but that’s not the hotels fault

Very well cooked
The unnecessarily loud music in the reception lounge ( tv was also on so 2 noise sources ) and in the dining room - no one listening but they interfere with conversation and concentration!

Very little, sorry to say. Nice outlook from the breakfast room is about the only positive I can add
Room very very poor. Very old, definitely not upgraded since 80's, room floor was dirty and stained. Bathroom shocking. Grounds unkempt. Overall, very tired, dirty and unappealing.

The staff were friendly, the food was decent (the items we were actually allowed to get) the breakfast was nice and I also enjoyed the pool table that is provided.
The food was great apart from the paid for meals we couldn’t have majority of the menu. The breakfast didn’t have pancakes for the little one so he didn’t eat. The door key is faulty both of them so we had to get staff to open the door for us. The bath was dirty hairs all over. The heating in my room was like a sauna the air con didn't work not good at all as well as my youngest son used the pool facilities with my husband and they were kicked out of the pool and sent to the far end in the shallow area all because they blocked off the main pool for a swimming lesson that only one child was attending. And then they got kicked out early so didn’t really even get to enjoy the facilities provided. When we checked in they also said they don’t have one of our rooms they only had our family room and to add insult to injury they also booked my name as a Mr I am very much not a Mr when they found the other room it was under my maiden name and also under Mr. we booked two rooms a classic family room and a compact double the family room was decent a double bed and two singles. Bathroom was small but it wasn’t unpleasantly small the air conditioning unit was broke so we had to open the window and sweat all night. We could not turn the radiator off at all we could turn it up or down but not off. The compact double was a lot better nice air conditioning unit a massive television and a nice bathroom. No complaints for the compact double at all. (Except for the hairs)
