Sliding door to men's restrooms damaged.

The hotel’s location was very good. It’s centrally located, but the area is also known for its nightclubs. Traveling with a child can be a bit challenging, so you need to be prepared for that. I went with my daughter without knowing this in advance. We didn’t encounter anything too inappropriate, but there were moments when some explanations were necessary 🙂
The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was sufficient. Having a staff member who spoke our language was an extra plus for us 🙂
Since it’s a hostel and close to nightclubs, I was worried about noise on the first day, but we weren’t disturbed at all. From now on, I’ll definitely look for AO in the cities I visit 🙂
As a Turkish guest, I naturally tend to expect a richer breakfast 😄 but it was still sufficient and satisfying.

Property was clean, comfy, warm and welcoming

Friendly, helpful staff. Great room with bedroom/lounge set back from the corridors, so you couldn't hear other guests and cleaners moving around. Overlooking the Reeperbahn, so always something interesting to see. Major drama on Sunday evening, when a major fire broke out in a restaurant opposite - 20 or so fire engines, flames bursting through the roof and plumes of smoke, as the firefighters fought for 3-4 hours to put the fire out. Phew. Excitement indeed! Neve a dull moment "auf der Reepbahn".
TV reception as eve hopeless in Hamburg. The shelf on the cupboard was 6' off the ground, so I couldn't see where my small items were! A kettle, tea/coffeee bags and mikk would be a nice touch.

Reception staff were friendly but overworked
Noise, mouldy shower, unsafe for personal effects, hot rooms because you couldn't open windows because of the noise.

located directly at the Reperbahn
the hotel is old and beaten up,
our room did not look anything close to the pictures shown at the booking site,
floor dirty, walls sticky, garbage can not empty, molds in the shower…
breakfast offerings not to our liking, we did eat out…
outside the hotel…garbage littered everywhere
…
we expected something else for the price paid !

The location. You have U Bahn, Sbahn and buses very close by.
It was possible to check in 2h earlier.
The location. It’s in a red light discrict, so if you’re coming with kids I wouldn’t recommend.
Misleading information about the facilities. Clearly in one part of the website (all facilities) after we choose our room it says we have a private bathroom and toilet. But then in (room description) it says shared bathroom. So it ended up with us not even having a toilet inside our room, and the places to take a shower are also elsewhere and open, so I did not take a shower.
The bed was not comfortable.
We were in the 4th floor and there was no elevator.
The check-out was at 10:00 but by 9:00 our cards were not working, so in that last hour of packing things up we couldn’t go to the “shared bathroom” at the same time.
And finally after 10:00 as I was in a meeting, I stayed in the lobby, my boyfriend asked how much it was to play snooker pool table, to which he was told it was 2.50€ for 30min with a deposit of 20€ (cash or card). We waited for me to finish my meeting and apparently another staff member now says it’s only available for an 1h, for 5€ and deposit now can only be in cash. And we just left wondering why the change of conditions in a space of 30min.
I stayed in other a&o hostels in Berlin, but never like this. Overall, I would say terrible experience.

The location was good and the staff helpful
The bathroom near the bathtub should have a grab rail or safety rail attached to the wall just in case you slip in the tub. The door to the room was very hard to close.

The room was clean and tge breakfast was good.
I paid 75 Euros for a single room, size of the room was very small. Location is in redlight area. I should have researched about location before booking, but since I had very good experience at others locations i blindly trusted the location. I had mentioned tgat I will be on business trip, I was given room exactly next to road, hence it was full of noise and chaos amd hardly I could get any sleep. There is no proper ventilation in the room, it was so hot and humid. I left the room 1 day before itself.

I completly don’t understand this bad opinions. Booking one of the cheapiest hostel and expect of 4 star hotel is madness. I had seperate 2 bed room with bathrum. For this range price everything was very good. Hostel and room with toilet was clean with clean sheets and towels. Brekfast was really good. We arrived at 7 am only to leave our luggages in baggage lokcers but we got key to room without any additional cost despite check in was at 3pm. One thing what can by annoying is flat wals and our neighbour are loud we can hear that. On the weekend nights we can also hear lives on the street because it is very fun neigbourhood. To sum up me and my wife reccomend this place if you want budget accomodation option. We spent there 3 nights and every atraction in the center was within our reach by walk. I also reccoment taking the hamburg bicycle, maximum fee is 9 euro per 24hour for one bike but you can’t change on other bike. If you want a pause for food you can lock the bike. Enjoy your staying :)

Central location
We were promised we could park our bicycles inside. Once there an unfriendly counter staff member told us to go outside where we locked our bikes. I saw one man going over my bike and found an item had been stolen the next morning.

The room was small but clean. Even though the day was hot, the air in the room was still breathable, I think the window was facing north. The hotel is centrally located in the Reeperbahn neighborhood, right next to the S Bahn. The staff were friendly.
The whole area around the hotel seemed a bit dodgy, with a lot of drunkies down the street. As a woman traveling alone, I felt uncomfortable. The room was clean, however, that's where the praise ends. The bed was uncomfortable, the room was furnished in a very basic way with no details to hint at comfort. A bit of a prisony vibe. In the night, you could hear the noise from the street, which I wasn't totally unprepared for, as I was aware it is a party district. However, the obvious solution to this is installing AC, especially because the room has good isolation and the noise is drastically reduced when the window is closed (which I was forced to do even though it was summer). The worst part was the shower. It was one of those top-down showers with the shower head attached to the wall and unable to move. Practically impossible not to wet your hair while taking a shower. The shower head was crusted with limestone and it had two faucet handles - for hot and cold water - so naturally, it was impossible to fix the right temp. The drain, of course, clogged. The shower curtain, disgusting. The shower tub so small that you can't even shuffle your body to wash down the soap. In addition, the entire bathroom seems to be fixed for extremely tall people, so tough luck if you're a shorty. The bathroom is just icky in every aspect.

24/7 reception, you can get towels at the reception, i was there with a friend bc of a concert and it’s the cheapest hotel i could find in this area, perfect for one or two nights
the walls are thin so it can be very noisy and you hear every step as well as unlocking and slamming doors, people talking outside or people having fun next door, you have to bring your own towels (the ones you get at the reception are small), dust under the bed, rooms are not very aesthetically pleasing but for the price okay though.
