Very nice stuff, very helpful, he did agree to change our room for a bigger one with no extra costs👍, good location , we left our cars parked even after check out , very good beds and confortable. Good food.
Very noisy even after 10pm , we had the room on 1st floor on top of the desk, people coming in and talking very loudly , especially having kids sleeping, everything inside quite old , and a bit cold in the rooms even if the radiator was working , hot tap was cold and cold tap was hot 😅 . We've been here 8 years ago and everything was the same , no improvement on decor or room expectation.

I could not recommend the Cumberland Hotel more. It is the picture of charm. The room was cozy, comfortable, and supplied with everything for a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and they helped me feel safe as a solo traveller. Beautiful location. The Cumberland Hotel proved to be the most sublime start and end to my busy travel days.

Loved how close this hotel was to the city centre while being away from the madness. travelled for my wifes birthday and the hotel was lovely. right beside the tram station and bus lines.
walk to the room was a little far but the room itself had everything you could need, even a mini fridge! which was well used for milk for tea.
walking distance to room was far but not the worst. no hot evening food as well but plenty of restaurants and take aways in edinburgh so you werent stuck

The staff was very welcoming and lovely, the beds were surprisingly comfortable.
There's the tiniest bit of mold near the windows and right outside the shower, the insulation isn't very good and our room had a wall that probably had a fire place before that they decided to hide and fill up with some insulation foam and brick PAPER wall, it wasn't very good at doing it's job and you could see the new wall "breathe" as the wind blew on it. Which meant it wasn't very warm since you could almost feel the air gushing in. We also had someone open our door while we were in the room around 7pm on our first day,, which is no hour to be cleaning the room and when asked about it the staff assured us it wasn't them. They assured us that we had the only key to our room besides the master key and that we probably left the door unlocked WHICH we didn't I made sure of it several times, and in any case we saw the person try the handle of the door before noticing it was locked and then using the key. We have several theories of who it might have been but in any case it is rather strange to have anyone enter your room in the evening like this.

Convenient location 10 minutes walk from Haymarket/West End and on the bus route to the airport (stops right outside). Breakfast was (only) ok. Decent shower and a big room.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment throughout. Front door is always locked and you have to ring the bell to check in - which people did fairly constantly, which was annoying in room 2 which is right next to reception...

The location of the hotel was absolutely fantastic with a bus stop outside with regular busses or a 25/30 minute walk through Haymarket to the start of the shops. The staff are very welcoming, smiley and helpful. The room was a clean, standard room for a 3 star hotel with the bed being like a squishy bed of clouds. If you prefer a firmer mattress like myself, it may feel as though you're melting into a huge marshmallow but it was rather comfy!
The shower was fab, great pressure and lovely soft towels.
The walls were very thin so if you're a light sleeper, you may struggle with the cacophony of snoring from the adjacent rooms. At one point it sounded like someone was practicing their Highland jig above us at 11pm but they soon wound down and began the snoring instead. I imagine it would be better to stay on the upper floor as hopefully there is no one tippy tapping on the roof!

The location is really good, walkable distance from main attractions. The staff are very friendly.
The facilities and the building itself are very basic, and kinda old. Limited breakfast options. Horrible internet connection.

Friendly staff.
Larg TV in room, with Netflix.
Warm water.
It is a haunted house unfortunately.
Which isn't surprising as it is dating back to the 1850's or so.
It feels like an ancient monastery with nice decorations.
I am sensitive to energies and really felt it was "crowded" for me.
At night had really wierd dreams, and been woken up by a sketchy being calling me "Hey man.."
Sound out there but true.
Also, the room was really not clean.
Hairs on the floor.. the shower..and on the sheets.
I felt like sleeping outside :(

It’s a nice building in a good location so you can easily walk into central Edinburgh
It was an unpleasant surprise to find that we had to pay £15 per day for parking which was required the moment we arrived. “It’s written at the bottom of the T&Cs” we were told with a grin.
The shower in our room could only produce a dribble of uncomfortably very hot water. Almost unusable.

Tha location - you are near Haymarket station.
The room was not clean at all, it was actually filthy. There were literal cobwebs and dust on every surface. The wallpaper was coming off in one corner. You couldn't open the window properly. The bed was tiny, a matchbox actually. Maybe this works for people who are 5 ft or below. And the bathroom... it was dirty, moldy and hat a funky smell. We stayed one night and we didn't arrive with any expectations, but still were underwhelmed. Would not recommemd at all.

We were in Edinburgh for a rugby match at Murrayfield, so the location of this hotel was perfect.
3 single beds in this room was a tight fit & you could barely turn round in the bathroom. The sheets on my bed didn’t fit properly. It was SO expensive for what we got.

Great location for rugby at nearby Murrayfield, great place to have a pint before the match
The only criticism was that the mattress was too soft, that’s just a personal observation, otherwise all good

The location was fantastic for Murrayfield Stadium.
The standard of cleanliness in the room was below what I would expect in a hotel. Crumbs and cobwebs galore!

Uncomfortable bed. Sink in bathroom too small to wash one’s face as shelf prevents one leaning over.

The staff at reception were helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel makes up some points. The bus stop is right outside the door and you can easily walk into town if you want to.
I was also a guest here for 3 nights exactly one year ago. I paid GBP 265 at the time. This year on the same dates I paid GBP 532. I am aware that everything is getting more expensive, but I have not experienced any improvement in quality here and find it difficult to understand this very sharp price increase. My bathroom last year was clean and with modern water regulation in the shower. The shower in this year's room was older (but still clean) and the temperature control was a ‘challenge’. Modernisation would be necessary here. A request to the owners: when the hotel is renovated, please don't destroy the charm of this old house! The old creaking stairs are part of it! But the rest of the bathrooms can certainly be modernised without too much effort. Thank you.

The location was very convenient, close to bus and tram stops and several restaurants. The bathroom was very clean.
The curtains were falling off the curtain rails, the light and the fan in the bathroom initially would wouldn’t turn off although the staff were very helpful in fixing this problem. The WiFi was almost non existent in the room. Overall the decor in the room was showing its age, the chairs could do with a deep clean.

Room was spotless , great location , bar on site and when I asked for a pint full of ice that’s exactly what I got, too many places hand over a few ice cubes

No hot water in morning for showers

The room was very spacious with having three beds in it
The beds we very noisy and not super comfortable and one of them had a wooden head board about 40cm about the mattress so I hit my head on it numerous times
