A nice trip to the little town of Hopferau

The building exterior and interior was astounding,well preserved one would say a hotel and a museum in one building. It was beautiful in winter, would be nice to see it in sommer too. The rooms have everything needed, they also have restaurated furniture, which added a nice touch. You actually feel you went back in time( in a positive way). There were enough parking spaces. The breakfast was simple yet elegant you had everything you needed to start the day. Would gladly visit again to check the whole building out.

Beautiful, historic building located in a quiet village. Room was warm, beds comfy and wifi was good. Safe parking on site.

The building was completely deserted when we arrived. We had received a message the day before saying reception would be closed at 2pm, giving instructions for the key safe. Restaurant was also closed, which was never mentioned during booking. We didn't take the 19 euros breakfast. We realise that early January is not the busiest time of year, but were disappointed by the complete absence of any staff on arrival. Had we known there was no restaurant, we probably would not have booked the hotel. Regarding the room, it was very small as was the bathroom.

Beautiful hotel, modern yet you can see the castle, the location is amazing btw. Staff was super friendly and helpful, they gave me so good recommendations for restaurants and the surroundings. Free parking is a plus!

Lovely Bavarian castle stay

Schloss zu Hopferau is a beautiful, historic building near to some of Bavaria's most popular attractions and has plenty of charm. The woman who greeted us at reception was so kind, and we had messaged in advance that we were vegan (just so they knew for breakfast), and they went out of their way to bring in vegan items like soy yoghurt and vegan cheese for our bread in the morning. Lovely little place with a lot of history.

The rooms are a little simple and dated for what you pay and don't quite match with the hotel's historic exterior, but the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean nonetheless.

The location was beyond beautiful. The building itself is lovely, and the room was fantastic -- it was huge! The bed was huge! The bathroom was huge! I wish we'd stayed more than one night because I feel like I didn't get to make the most of it. I also loved that they let us poke around the castle, and I loved learning about the connection to computing history.

This is a beautiful hotel with great staff and excellent food. A wonderful choice for discovering Bavaria. Just a 15 minute drive to the main castles. Thoroughly recommend.

Great place in a wonderful setting

Great place at a nice location with amazing staff. The breakfast was great. We had coffee and cake one afternoon: amazing. And we had drinks after hours in the courtyard and the "chef" was happy to get us drinks even though the restaurant was closing. The wi-fi worked fine. The room was on the small size but perfectly fine. We had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. This is a very short drive to Fuessen and lots of other places to visit nearby that may not be in your tourist guidebook.

My only suggestion is: A small fridge in the room would have been nice given how hot it was when we were visiting and even our chocolate was melting.

What a wonderful surprise this hotel is. We found it at random and could not be happier about the choice, from clean, comfortable rooms, helpfull and kind staff to their fantastic restaurant and beer garden.

Rooms were well appointed considering the awkward room shapes in the 500+ year old castle. The reception staff were very helpful with recommendations for evening restaurants.

This is a castle, in a beautiful garden estate, in a lovely country. We stayed in the top floor apartment, amazing. We had dinner and 2 breakfasts, again, top quality and lovingly presented. Our first night it was quiet and we felt like Kings of the castle.

They had a wedding there on our last night, who had the entire castle and were blasting Metallica at midnight--good music but not when you're trying to sleep, and no staff were around to keep them quiet. Was totally inappropriate for us, and tarnished what was otherwise a perfect stay.
