Dungallan Country House

Dungallan is an exquisite property. No detail was missed, inside and out from the beautiful views of the bay to the cozy library. Every aspect of the property begs you to stay, get comfortable and linger, like a warm hug.

Everything here is perfection!

Beautiful, classy home. The bar area is amazing. Unbeatable views of Oban bay. About 15 min walk from city center, or an easy 2-3 min drive. Staff are next-level: friendly, helpful, and hilarious (especially Oliver!). Highly recommended.

This former guest House is on its way to becoming a top class hotel, with an excellent restaurant providing evening meals. The food was excellent, both breakfasts and evening meal. The decor is outstanding and the views from the bar and library are incredible. The room was near perfect, the only slight issue being the door on the antique wardrobe which had dropped slightly - but our room is due for a makeover in the next month anyhow, so even that is being taken care of. I honestly don't think I've ever stayed anywhere with such classically stylish decor. The location is at the quiet end of Oban, past the harbour, and the approach doesn't inspire confidence with the road narrowing into a single lane at one point. But when you drive up to Dungallan, all is forgiven. And actually it's easy walking distance for Oban town. Oban itself is an odd mix of dingy and beautiful, with the weight towards the beautiful. Nice restaurants in the town centre, and it's worth visiting Dunollie Castle for the astoundingly panoramic view from the ruined keep.

The staff are all lovely and chatty, very personable and great craic. They all appear to love working there and that makes the atmosphere glow. The girls who serve breakfast also service the rooms. As a learning point for the team, there's a fine line between attentive service and being a character. As my wife said, it's great having lovely staff but I don't want them sitting on my knee (figuratively speaking). It's a minor thing but I think worth sharing. Didn't detract from our experience at all.
