I don't believe the location was accurately described. It was a grueling climb up over 100 stairs just to get to the location. Then inside there were more stairs. And the final thing that made me leave without staying was the fact that I couldn't get up the tiny spiral staircase, where the bunkbeds were located, whilst carrying my.
A truthful indication of the location.
I might be incorrect, but I believe I chose the location because it said it was 450 m from town Central.
As an older person, I need to get up in the night to go to the toilet that would've also been quite tricky.

Lovely property! The view was great!
It would be nice if they offered towels

The view
The reception is not good and the instructions are not clear. I’m confirming to check in about 8 PM and there is no one there in the middle of the mountain darkness, and the worst thing about it there is no respond when I try to call them.

spectacular view
the hike and the noise when people goes up and down the stairs as u can hear them inside the rooms

Great location, fun vibe and convenient restaurant
Wifi did not reach top room unless you were next to door. I did not check in with the locker, so was unclear how to check out until staff arrived. Luckily i didn’t have early transport.

This was the most beautiful view from my accommodation that I’ve had on my whole trip around Europe. It’s remote to access, but so worth it when you see the view and experience the isolation.
The restaurant downstairs was a little noisy, and staff worked late / started early. Not an issue if you are up and about, but just worth considering.
10.0 / 10.0
Breakfast was a satisfying cold plate, with a mix of meat, cheese, vegetables and bread, with coffee or tea. (Vegetarian option is available).
The property is small, but rooms are of adequate size.
A common room for writing and relaxing would be useful. The restaurant could conceivably be used for that, but it closes at 6 p.m. and dormitories are not always convenient, given the needs of different people.

Clean, quiet, interesting building and location.
It's the absolute bare minimum, just a bed for the night. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is a lovely hostel situated on top of a very big hill. This was fine for us, but beware it is a lot of steps!
We had a private room in the hostel which was spacious, comfortable, and had a beautiful view from our window.
The bathrooms were clean and rarely busy.
There is also a lovely cafe / bar underneath the hostel which is perfect for a drink with a view. (It was never loud at night though.)
It got quite hot at night, especially on the top bunk.

We couldn’t stay here because it was totally inaccessible. With three suit cases and two kids it wasn’t made clear to us that the hostel was on top of a cliff which can only be accessed by either steep steps or a part time museum lift. As such we had to cancel. We felt the property should have made this known at point of booking.

The view and the staff
Asking people to pay for towels is mean! It sends a wrong message! Make the room cost 3 euros more and include the towels. This really put me off 👎

Amazing location
Clean and quiet
Magnificent view
Felt safe - walked home after show at 2230hrs - path and stairs up the hill were well lit
Access for early check out to leave key in key safe on departure
Up lots of stairs to get there (which is advertised, was well aware of this), managed to get case up
Was in 6 bed dorm - tiny and very steep staircase access was challenging
In dorm small window provided some air but no fan - room was very hot compared to outside temp

The view, that's really it.
Definitely do your research thoroughly before booking this place.
This property was so hard to find, and we had to carry suitcases up a steep staircase because that was where Google led us to.
No communication from the property whatsoever about how to access the property — address in Booking.com is wrong. Do your research thoroughly before booking this place, esp if you need something accessible.
They do not provide towels or toiletries, so definitely bring your own. I would not stay here again, it got pretty hot in the night time and it was so uncomfortable.
If you stay in Room 9, even though it's a private room, it's next to the stairs, so you will be woken up by loud footsteps coming up the stairs to Room 10.

The beds had incredibly comfortable mattresses!!
Beautiful location in an old castle like fortress with fantastic views over Salzburg, really got to recommend this place.
Great value for a surprisingly affordable price.
The ONLY downside thjs place had, was the lack of some kind of "railing " or something on the upper bunk bed.
Before falling asleep I was terrified about the risk of falling from the narrow uper bed while sleeping because there was nothing that would have stopped me from falling in case I moved a bit in my sleeps.

A pretty central location, only a few minutes' walk from the historic city centre, with a great view from the terrace. Check-in was quick and easy with one of the restaurant staff.
The 6-bed dormitory is reached by very awkward, steep and narrow stairs. The pillow was very lumpy, and the room was very hot overnight, even with the window being open and the temperature only being 15 degrees outside.

The room was exactly what we needed and had a nice view from the window.

Worst wifi I have found in Europe, had to go down half of the staircase to get it to reconnect and then it would be lost when you reaced your bed again half of the time.
Bunkbeds are in metal but the ladders are loose on the bottom--> a lot of claning noise when someone slightly touched it. Some layers of tape or like a sock would cancel out this issue

The location is impprrssive
No kitchen, a few facilities, it was so hard to reach the room.

Location good..bathroom good, staff helpful but it was a bit hard considering they were running a cafe as well.
No facilities to just make a coffee or have space to place to catch up with others if some wanted to have a sleep

Clean bathrooms and toilets.
Good price
Location is close to the old town
Nice view of Salzburg
The hostel is located in an ancient tower connect with a fortress wall and is not easily accessible because you have to take a lot of stairs, except if you pay to use the elevator inside the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, but it has a nice view.
To get to my room, which was the cheapest one, I admit, I had t take a narrow step of stairs.
There is just two showers for each gender in the entire hostel

The uniqueness of staying in a forte and the magnificent panoramic views of Salzburg day and night were fantastic. We loved the adventure. Definitely be prepared to walk with your luggage.
The room was small but comfortable.
The restaurant’s menu at the property looked amazing and it has a beautiful view but is not open in the evening even for guests. You need to walk down into town (and back up again) for dinner. The museum lift which you can use to get part way to accommodation only works limited hours and you need to pay for it.
The accommodation is not staffed and no one is available for assistance outside of restaurant hours which is a concern in case an issue arises.
It felt like as guests we were less of a priority and felt like an inconvenience because the restaurant was the priority (the same staff member is trying to do it all). I needed to ask for towels and were given hand towels for shower towels.
I arrived back at the room at 5.00pm and the staff were cleaning up in the restaurant. I asked to pay for a glass of wine to enjoy the view and was told quite sternly that the kitchen was closed and it was not possible. I did not quite understand the difficulty so I sat out with my bottle of water.
There are no tea/coffee making facilities available. The restaurant opens at 9am for purchasing hot drinks.
I would recommend access to a kettle, cups, spoons and basic tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the corner of the inside dining area downstairs at least for out of restaurant hours.

nice view
no soundproof doors, u can hear everything on the corridor.
The adress is incorrect, we had to walk 1 hour til we found the place, actually a nice stuff member drove us there afterall, but yea. adress is wrong and direction given by messages is not clear.
u cant go there by car, u have to pay for parking down in the town.

Amazing view and clean room & bathroom!
Double room was very tight but still comfortable enough for our 2-night stay.

View from our two bed room was amazing. We didn't have breakfast. Location was great. Situated on top of a hill. Therefore, expect a lot of climbing by stairs. However, the view from the hostel was breathtaking. Located at top of Salzburg. Toilets and rooms were very clean. Blankets could have been a bit thicker and warm. Rest was fine. Wifi stength was excellent.

Fabulous views. Good bathroom. Great outside space.
There are no facilities - eg to get a glass of water. There are no staff - only people who are in the restaurant when it’s open. It is extremely difficult to find. Google maps takes you to the wrong place. Very narrow and steep stairs to the dormitory.

The views were gorgeous, room was comfortable for 2 people. Bathroom was clean and it is super close to middle of old town
Getting the hostel was tricky and can be better explain by the staff before arrival. If trying to find the hostel, go to the modern art museum and ask for the lift up.

Amazing location, gorgeous views! The place was very clean and the shared bathroom was very nice. Be aware there is a lift at Mönchsberg that will get you most of the way up to the hostel, which cuts down the climb significantly when you have luggage.
There is no common area or kitchen, so you have to fill water bottles up at the bathroom sink and you can't store any perishables. The staff also only seem to be the restaurant staff and have little idea of the hostel itself. Quite a strange setup.

Unique experience felt like staying in a castle. Increible view, walking down the stairs with a trolley wasn’t an issue, took us 10 minutes to reach the old town by foot.
Arrived at Night with a Taxi and the address in Google Maps wasn’t clear. Was difficult to find. I think i had received instructions via email But couldn’t find them in the Moment. Make sure to pay attention to That if you plan to arrive at Night by Taxi! No kitchen facilities available for guests or common area to stay indoors at night.

The view is fantastic, it’s nice that they also have a cafe/restaurant and the people that work there are very friendly.
Our rooms were directly above the kitchen, there was a quite strong smell of food.

Fabulous location at the top of the cliff overlooking the city. Great views. Unusual to stay in a castle turret! Lovely showers. Very clean. Very steep narrow stairs to our dorm were fine for us but could be a problem for some.
Individual lights over bunks would be useful.

Clean and comfortable. Wonderful views across the city. Great breakfast.
The only way to reach the property is via an elevator to the art museum and then a walk. You can’t drive there and no taxis would take us. This was an issue as we had a disabled elderly person with us but we got there. :-)
6.0 / 10.0
the scenery in the front door worth every penny and sacrifice
locations a bit far away from the ground, require some time and effort, food smell from the kitchen is annoying and not that comfortable

The best view in the entire city!!! The location is absolutely amazing and beautiful (however better indications on how to find it would have been great), The hostel was also really nice and well decorated, plus the bed was incredible comfortable. The staff is very friendly and professional and they do a great job keeping things tidy and up to a high standard. Food was DELICIOUS!!
Best way to find the hostel is to use the lift inside the museum der modern ... Google Maps is not up to.date in the city, so better to get indications of where things really are, before getting lost.
