A brilliant stay at the Porterhouse. The room was beautiful. Very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent!
The best bit was breakfast. It was AMAZING. The quality of food and ingredients were exceptional. We would definitely stay again and have dinner too!

great location, cool place, nice decor, clean, great value for money especially with the breakfast inc, which was an impressive breakfast with a steak full English with all the trimmings, park and ride minutes away by far the cheapest option with the stop minutes from the hotel. would definitely stay again.

I was made to feel very welcome as soon as I arrived and then for the following three days.
The ambience of the restaurant, the comfortable room and then to the best breakfast ever is to be commended.

Nothing. I have to come back.

Our room was lovely. Fridge on the landing if we needed it. Shower lovely and hot. Bedding soft and comfortable. The breakfast was stunning - I had steak for breakfast!!! It was perfection. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and made beautiful coffee.
The stair carpet on the way to our room has seen better days and didn't inspire confidence...our room was lovely though so all was well. Not the Porterhouse's fault but it is surrounded by roadworks and it is a long way around to walk from the station obviously way beyond their control.

It is well maintained and a lovely environment - staff were really good and the food is amazing
Difficult to control room temp, but there are fans and radiators etc.
It was a bit out of main centre and there was a road closed which made getting rides into town expensive

Cosy room, an abundance of tea/coffee pods, biscuits, toiletries. It has lots of character such as a beautiful old fireplace in the room. The restaurant is lovely and breakfast was delicious. It was exceptionally clean too. I admit, I had my reservations about staying in a pub/restaurant,especially as a solo female traveller, but it's not that kind of vibe at all, it's lovely. The restaurant was quite busy in the evening but a nice crowd and a nice ambiance. The room was very quiet once I went upstairs.

This is sort of an upscale pub, with beautiful décor and rooms up a narrow set of stairs. Our room was in the charming attic, with those little square windows and nice blue marine walls. Breakfast is delicious, particularly the option from the grill. We also had dinner at the restaurant -- you should taste the cauliflower. Bathroom is simple and practical. It is just behind Oxford's train station.
Nothing.

The location was great, within 12 minutes walking distance into the centre. The rooms were nice and spacious and quiet at night. Great amenities.
The Staff were polite and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious!
And even the parking at the nearest hotel was a 1 minute walk.

Hand for the railway station and central enough to walk around Oxford without having to use transport
I did not realise the pub was really a restauranty so there was nowhere to lounge other than sitting on your bed in your room. We were there with other family members for a pre christmas catch up, even though were were buying drinks at the bar there wad no where to sit an chat until they had finish serving meals. Not there fault but if you are expecting to sit and have a drink after a busy day sight seeing you have go to your room.

The location is brilliant for train travellers - just 5 mins walk from the station. Our room was large and tastefully decorated, with a really comfortable bed and excellent shower. The restaurant is fantastic, with a range of cuts available for steaks and a delicious assortment of sides. We couldn't fault the food or the service, especially the great conversation and local recommendations from the very witty Nicola. The breakfast was equally impressive. I couldn't manage steak again but my husband wolfed his. All in all, fantastic value for money.
The restaurant was very quiet so by the time we were onto our mains we were the only table in there, which was a shame as I'd brought my husband for his birthday and would've preferred more of an atmosphere. Nobody's fault, just the luck of the draw during an otherwise busy Christmas period.

Clean comfortable room within 5 - 10 minutes walk from railway station. Staff were very friendly and accomodating to our requests and let us leave our bags even through we arrived well before check in. The restaurant serves excellent steaks so try to fit a lunch or evening meal in the restaurant with your stay. Breakfast is cooked to order and can keep you going for most of the day.
Limited seating in the room, but if you are out exploring Oxford during the day, its not important.

The steak was good
I checked in and was brought to my room by one of the staff. Left my bags and came down to the restaurant to have something to eat and get some work done. It was not busy but the service was extremely slow and then my bill had to be corrected. It was much higher than it should have been. After paying I went to my room to find a couple had been checked into my room and my bags, coat, passport, etc. had all been removed. Went back downstairs and was just told there had been a mix up that I was given the wrong room and my stuff had been put in storage. There are only 7 or 8 rooms and the restaurant is not very big. Nobody consulted with me first or thought it might have been important to tell me while I was actually there all the time. I never left the restaurant which is also where they check every one in. This is just not acceptable !!!

Location close to station and not too far to walk into town. Smart decor, helpful staff, large room with comfortable facilities, ability to manage temperature of room (turn off radiators, open windows). Good breakfast, coffee. Milk available in fridge in landing and ample supply of coffee pods.
Very close to noisy, vibrating construction work. Coffee machine didn't have instructions. Had to look up online how to dispense hot water. Sorry stair/landing carpets. Noise from room upstairs.

the room was a good size and breakfast was good
no mirror in the room so trying to dry my hair i couldn't see what i was doing, the shower top arm was spurting hot water out as it had come away, although breakfast was good the morning staff were very late to arrive so the cleaner was trying to organize orders and drinks hats off to her but staff should arrive on time not an hour late . We were also woken at 7am with the most horrendous construction noise which we do realise you have no control over but 7am on a Sunday morning was not what we expected

Room was spacious, bed comfortable. Housekeeping was available daily.
Location was convenient.
Had breakfast each day and food was delicious and they were accommodating when we asked for something that wasn't strictly on the menu.
Large fridge on the communal landing with water, fresh milk and fruit available for guests was good.
Restaurant and room decor very nice.
Arrival: Check-in was from 3pm.Got there at 245pm. Most places have a grace period and if arrive slightly before check-in time will allow you in. We were greeted with an intake of breath and "Ooh touch early for check-in." Then awkward silence. Made to wait until exactly 3pm. No offer of refreshment etc. Hardly a warm welcome.
We paid over £800 for 4 nights stay and couldn't be afforded 15 mins grace on arrival.
Another couple arrived after us at literally 3 mins to 3pm and were told the same thing. Made to wait 3 minutes.
Arrival welcome sets the tone and this wasn't the warmest.
Thankfully, things improved over the stay but this did leave a bad taste on arrival.
Cost: expensive for what it turned out to be. Expectations were higher. We had just had 4 nights in Cambridge at similar place which was just over half of the cost of this stay.

Fantastic food, really friendly staff, lovely rooms, great location.
The windows of our room directly faced some houses but with the blinds down it wasn’t a problem.

The staff were really friendly and I loved the small boutique hotel feel. The room was decorated really beautifully and it was comfortable - we had a great night sleep. It was in a good location to explore Oxford, even with the current construction work around the city making it a bit more difficult. I also didn’t realise we had breakfast included in our stay which was a nice surprise, and it was amazing. Steak included on a full English!
I would’ve loved to have parking at the hotel itself, but the hotel communicated well about parking options and transport, and the park and ride was a convenient and cheap option for our stay.

The room, staff and breakfast were great!
I don’t like down pillows - personal preference.
The roadwork around the train station makes it less easily accessible, no fault of the hotel and manageable once you figure it out.

Great location - near station and short walk into the City. Staff very welcoming. Room was lovely and super comfy bed and pillows. . Breakfast was delicious
Bathroom could have done with better light over mirror and somewhere to put toiletries.

Close proximity to train station and easy walk into city. 1st impressions of the place was very good, staff were very polite and helpful, we had top floor room so a few stairs to climb but not an issue, good size room, very comfortable bed, pillows a bit soft for us but that's personal choice, we still slept well, excellent shower, easy to use and hot, free toiletries, coffee machine, free milk and water from a fridge on the landing, and an excellent breakfast, cereals, tea/coffee, juices and a full English with a piece of juicy steak. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, maybe a tad expensive for 1 night, but that might be the case for all Oxford.
Nothing we didn't like but wished we had the time to sample one of their famous steaks but had a gig to go too

I love pubs with rooms! So much more fun than a chain hotel. This one comes with excellent dry-aged beef.
Well, the coffee was not wonderful, either in room with the Bosch machine or in the pub. But hey, this is England! The caffeine worked.

Very big room, love the size! Breakfast is great and available for 3 hours. Mattress is comfortable and room is clean.
Due to the construction nearby, the way to the hotel is a bit convoluted. The hotel is locked up after 10:30PM, may be a bit inconvenient.

The pub, hotel and rooms are very beautiful. The road was quiet and very close to the train station.
The floors were thin and we had people walking around in heels so were woken up at night and again in the morning.
1.0 / 10.0
The room size was good. Pillows were decent.
The stairs are a legit safety hazard, the slanted floor in the top floor room is alarming, the road connecting visitors to the university area being completely unusable is a huge issue. No where to park and impossible to get around between the accommodations and the attractions. The bed was awful! There was so much wrong.
