Spotless, comfortable, friendly and excellent VFM

Friendly, efficient & polite staff. This is a very well run independent hotel. Very comfortable bed & everything spotlessly clean. Love the honesty bar, offering a very wide choice of drinks. Breakfast takes the form of a choice of cereal & fresh fruit and a choice of cooked stuff, all cooked to order & tasted like it was from fresh ingredients. Great car parking. Easy walk to Oxford city centre.

Lovely little hotel close to the station.

Stayed here for work and found the hotel to be lovely and homely. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and helpful around late check in. The breakfast was great too.

Plesant

I like the location of this hotel which is near the train station, even though the railway bridge on Botley Road is closed during our visit in January 2026 (it will be closed to vehicle access until August 2026). This probably made the area around the hotel much quieter. There is a lounge/ bar for anyone to sit in and enjoy the drinks (with extra charges, paid when checking out). The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed a 1-night stay here.

As we travelled as a group of 3 people with large luggage, the room was a bit too small. We could open only one luggage at a time. The room was warm and cosy, but there were no radiators in the bathroom, making it a bit cold.

Great for what I needed and good value for money.

Lots of choice for breakfast that was suitable for vegan diets. Staff friendly with lots of local knowledge and suggestions - especially places to head for when the weather wasn’t great. Also gave me an upgrade so great value for money.

Front entrance was closed at night which required walking to rear of the building to an entrance in the car park which was t great for a woman on her own , although the area generally felt safe.

Very friendly staff, nice rooms and excellent location.

Very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location near the train station. A comfortable bed and warm room.

My only negative point is that whoever was painting the doorframes failed to put a wet paint sign up. There was no way I could have known the doorframe I brushed against had wet paint on it and I got paint all over my coat and trousers. This however has nothing to do with the service of the hotel which was excellent.

Comfortable ,excellent location for centre of Oxford

The location, helpful and friendly staff and the contact prior to arrival. Bed was very comfortable, breakfast excellent and staff were very knowledgeable in local sites etc. Great honesty bar. You can easily walk into town centre within 10 mins. Allowed us to access room early as we arrival earlier than expected.

This is rated as a 2 star establishment? In my opinion it was more like 3-4 stars. Iwould highly recommend

The staff were very friendly but also professional. The whole place was clean, and also beautifully decorated in a way I really liked - the choice of wallpaper (over fireplace chimney?) in the dining room (where I also liked the chunky solid chairs). In the room where I waited for my taxi, each chair had a sheepskin rug as a small “throw” to sit in! The small picture on my bedroom wall was not the usual hotel bland offering. Altogether the whole ambience was delightful. The breakfast was also 10/10 delicious and my request for gluten-free and for oatmilk were both catered for, no problem.

The bedroom window couldn’t be opened. I did manage to turn off the radiator or I would have been seriously too hot - but I understand another visitor might have appreciated a cosy bedroom. This is a small quibble!

Oxford city centre location, home from home comforts, small enough to care.

The 10 minutes walk from city centre and all the theatres and Gallery, and historic places. The on site car Park is a big bonus for the location. Breakfast included in cost, I have paid at others for a breakfast at which wasn`t as good or prepared. If you take this off the room price this makes this the place to stay. Next to a bridge and River Thames you can suddenly be in a restful location, hardly believe you are in the centre of Oxford. I would recommend and use again.

It has an honesty fridge / bar set up rather than a staffed Bar, so we were out in evening rather than possibly using the Bar with other like minded guests. Not a bad thing as the idea of a city break is to see the city and it`s attractions. All in all a happy weekend for this guest in their early 60`s.

Great value & location

Everything. The location was great, the staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Bedroom was very clean, and bed was very comfortable. Very good facilities, and breakfast was excellent. Great continental range, and cooked breakfast was very tasty. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel with great breakfast and very friendly staff. Comfortable beds and just a few minutes walk from city centre. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this gem!

The only downside was a noisy bathroom fan; I wish it could be turned off when not needed. I also wish the sink had a single-handle faucet.

Decent hotel in a good location

Excellent location close to the city centre with a breakfast room overlooking the river. Friendly staff and ample breakfast. Wonderful to have parking on site.

The decor in our bedroom and bathroom is a little tired and outdated. The bed was not very comfortable and the hot water ran out quite quickly.

A great stay in an updated historic building with comfortable beds, and conveniences.

The hotel is located a short walk from the train station making it easy to get there. Each morning there was an excellent breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, yogurt and a cooked breakfast option. Great coffee! We made use in the evening of a well stocked bar on the first level of the hotel which was a welcome surprise. There are some restaurants located nearby which was convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lots to see in Oxford.

A great stay in Oxford

A little dated decor,but was very nice and cozy.The location was very nice being right beside the Thames. A 10 to 15 minute walk into town ,or a nice longer stroll along the river into town via the Head of the river pub! Friendly informative owners who served a super cooked breakfast if required and lots of choice from the buffet. Thankyou.

Room was adequate with comfortable beds,but the furniture was very tired and really needed changing.Very surprised that even the shredded window net could not be renewed.Clean room on initial inspection, but a bit a of dust found in easy clean areas like top of tv,chair legs etc. Just needed 5 more minutes to be spot on.Gripe over!

A pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Location very conveniently close to the station and buses. Nothing was too much trouble when requesting specifics.

The hot water was not coming through in the shower although as the weather was so hot the tepid temperature was rather refreshing!

Charming B&B in the middle of town

Very close to city center. Breakfast was large and tasty. Staff was attentive to my needs (put a fan in my room without even me needing to ask because it was hot).
