We were out of the rain.
No staff on site. No breakfast available. Room adequate but not very sound proof.

Great location. Comfortable bed. TV had lots of channels including Prime!
We had to wait quite a while for someone to come.check us in, and weren't exactly sure what to do.

Drains emit unpleasant smell

very good restaurant downstairs
Separate shower room rather cramped and inconvenient.
Room heating was on max when I arrived but I worked out how to reduce it after a false start

I book a room here most times I visit Oxford, because it's comfortable, affordable, and in a really good location. I consider it a reliable and pleasant basic option, with a certain slightly eccentric charm. This time I was visiting with two friends, and they were also happy with their rooms :)
We were all especially delighted to be welcomed by Ahmad at the Al Shami restaurant downstairs when we checked in on this occasion - an expert in the arts of hospitality and witty banter - and we all very much enjoyed our dinner there on the first night!
This isn't really a complaint, but the booking.com listing is out of date - I don't think there has actually been breakfast available here for several years now. But there are lots of very nice cafes within a five minute walk, so it's no great inconvenience.

It is very, very basic. It is not really a hotel, rather rooms above a restaurant, which are Spartan. However, those rooms are spotless, the greeting in the restaurant on checkin warm and the location excellent.
As above

This is an expensive location, so for the price, it was perfectly fine. A quiet neighborhood and central location.
The room was very basic , but was clean and was perfectly fine for a night.

Great position. Exquisite food in the Lebanese restaurant downstairs. Friendly staff.
Very narrow beds.

The room was very old fashioned and had a smell from the restaurant below. Bathroom tiny.

Good location but poor facility and the room smells sewage and uncomfortable mattress
The room smells sewage had to ask to give alternative room. The mattress was very uncomfortable ruined our night.

The staff were friendly and organised.
The room had everything we needed - including a fridge.
The place was easily walkable from the historic part of Oxford and not too bad with suitcases from Oxford train station.
The private bathroom was very cramped - the toilet had to be sat at an angle due to the sink being nearly on top of you, and the shower didn't seem to have a spectrum of temperatures, only scorching hot, luke warm and cold.
3.0 / 10.0
No breakfast available. Short walk from town and railway.
Stairs difficult. Bathroom tiny and outside room.
4.0 / 10.0
Good location for the Oxford half. Would stay in the area again
Shower - incredibly high up on wall. Had to move a chair into the (tiny) bathroom to be able to adjust shower settings!
Uncomfortable bed.
Shower curtain was unclean and hairs on the shower all and shower head.
Zero staff - had to pick up keys from restaurant next door. Had asked in advance if I could leave luggage on my last day as would need to go to the half marathon early and then come back. Was told it wouldn’t be a problem but there was no office and no one to ask when there. Sent another message via booking.com and received no answer. Had to pay for a local luggage storage service instead. Not sure how any issue would get sorted with nobody on the property and no one replying.

Proximity to city
The bathroom could do with a better clean.

Lovely staff, great location. This is a good choice if you spend all your day outside of the room, and the room is just for sleeping. That applied to us.
Shower drain clogged, slight flooding of the floor with back to back showers. The room and furnishings are dated.

The location. Jericho has some nice bars and restaurants plus just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Oxford. The hotel rooms are situated above a Lebanese restaurant and all owned by the same people. Pretty decent, fair priced food
The room. Granted there was tea and coffee, good sized tv plus a fan but it was filthy. The bathroom is so small you need to come out to dry yourself plus disgustingly filthy. Mould all over the shower plus the shower head. Obviously not been cleaned in a long time. False nails from a previous guest in the sink cabinet. Hole in duvet cover revealed filthy duvet. The room needs a proper deep clean with new duvet, shower head. A pubic hair on the shower wall made me want to heave! I had the quickest shower and left early the next morning. It states budget hotel but for 108 pounds you expect budget to be atleast clean. Will never stay here again. Check out the photos I just had to take as was just so shocked. Have never stayed in a dirtier hotel room.

Location, staff, quirkiness, quiet
Unfortunately, there didn't appear to be any hot water in the sink or a plug which made shaving a little difficult for my partner.
4.0 / 10.0
Conveniently located for what we needed.
On arrival you need to “check-in” at the serving desk inside the restaurant. Obviously Saturday nights are busy so food takes priority. (The food did look good)
Then we go upstairs to Room 8. This does have a “private bathroom” but this is across the landing which is not made clear. The bathroom is also tiny with a shower that either scolds you or freezes you! From looking at the reviews on Google, this hasn’t been rectified in at least 2 years which is very disappointing considering I paid £100 for the night!
The room itself is fine. Very basic, bed uncomfortable but it’s fine for the nights sleep. Very tired looking, could do with a fresh bit of paint!
Overall, not worth the £100.

Good quality cotton sheets. Shower easy to operate. Staff very helpful. The hotel restaurant below was good value for money.
Web site offered a continental breakfast. There was no breakfast available and staff stated breakfast has not been available for 3-4 years.

It is located in a quite area, very close to the old bookbinders pub, which is a gem of the area.
The toilets and entrance hall to my rooms were dirty and smelly. The carpet should be thrown away and replaced by laminate flooring. Bathroom should be completely renovated.
8.0 / 10.0
Decent sized room, fan, fridge, clean bedding and nice large bath towels
Bathroom: needed a new toilet seat and a deep clean to remove limescale

Good location easy walk to city centre and close to loads of places to go out too.
It was boiling hot and the air flow was very poor. It was not good value for money.

The room was a decent size, with a bathroom attached. The manager was kind and friendy. All the appliances worked and the shower had a strong pressure and warmed up quickly.
The location was a bit of a walk from the main areas in Oxford, and room felt a bit dark.

Quirky place above a Middle Eastern Restaurant. Staff was friendly & helpful. The room was small but clean with all the amenities - coffee & pot, TV, wi-fi. The location was wonderful: quiet, and only .3 mile to the Ashmolean and .5 to the Martyr's Monument & busses. There are steep stairs to the rooms (no lift) but staff assisted with our bags. The bathroom was only big enough for 1 person but everything worked. The shower (step up!) had plenty of hot water (& the head is adjustable for height).
Our room had 2 twin beds but because of the small size should really have had 1 queen. The beds were junior twin instead of standard, just a bit too small for normal sized adults. And the combo coverlet was not much larger than the bed which was aggravating when you rolled over & pulled it off or to the side. We saw a larger twin room that would have been perfect.

Excellent location. Not too expensive.
This property is rooms above a restaurant. There appeared to be no formal Reception area and check-in and check-out procedures were very informal. Quite noisy and room very warm.

Very cozy in a quiet location. Staff were very helpful when I needed to drop off my suitcase before checkin.
7.0 / 10.0
Nice friendly and helpful owner/staff, very accommodating as they put us on a high floor and we asked if we could be on a lower floor and it was no problem. Helped us get a taxi later and stored our bags the next day as we had a late train home. Our room was comfortable.
Our bathroom in room 1 was "bijou" is the only way to describe it. lol A larger person would have great difficulty in manoeuvring in there.😐

Very practical and simply
