Location of the hotel is ideal for walking in the central Lake District with good views from the property. It's also less than 5 minutes walk from one of the nicest pubs in the Lake District. The breakfasts served each morning were freshly cooked so they took some to arrive but were worth waiting for in the beautiful dining room. We had an evening meal on the Sunday which was one of the best roast beef dinners I've had in a long time. All the staff were pleasant throughout our stay.
Our room was tired and really needed to be re-decorated and made more welcoming by having some pictures on the walls. Having the wash basin in the bedroom was far from ideal as the wooden surface beneath it was damaged by water spilling on it. It was a very long walk from reception which you would need to be aware of if you suffered from mobility issues. I found the bed too hard for my liking but that's a personal preference.
