Highly recommend both hotel and restaurant

The reception and Bar staff were so helpful with a smile . The restaurant was also very worth a visit. We had no difficulty parking

Fantastic independent hotel

The beds were very comfortable, there is a fridge tucked away in the wardrobe and has 2 bottles of water in it. The staff was amazing, we had breakfast, it was exceptional.

A traditional non chain hotel ideally located. Recommended for museums malls and theatres.

Quality fresh local ingredients. Tablecloths, table service, helpful staff, plenty of space at and between tabkes. Parking immediately in front of hotel , payment sorted by hotel no extra charge. Friendly staff.

Entrance via a flight if broad and steep stone steps ...might be an issue for older ir disabled visitors especially with luggage...we travelled light Ancient lift.

Relaxing comfortable stay in this hotel

Nice quiet location very welcoming staff. Cosy seating area in reception adjacent to the bar. Clean and nicely decorated. Room we had was on 3rd floor at top of hotel lift to get there. Nice and quiet and very good sized room. Comfortable beds small table and chairs and plenty of lamps and lighting. Good sized bathroom with shower over bath and toiletries provided. Nice touch was a pillow spray to aid restful sleep. Lovely choice of breakfast and welcoming and super efficient service by young waiter. Car parking opposite the hotel free for 24 hours on arrival with a permit from reception. Was attending a party in the function room in the hotel which you can get to from the hotel lift so no need to go outside. Buffet food provided by hotel was really nice and bar staff very pleasant and efficient. Hope to stay here again.

Stayed following a show at new theatre, excellent room, location and breakfast. Staff amazing and hotel a lot quieter than I expected. Car park 24 hour permit was a bonus with car in view outside front of hotel. Lovely stay allround

The hotel was beautiful. Looked really pretty with the Christmas lights on. Hotel room just big enough for one night. Very clean room and bathroom. Downstairs very clean welcoming. Staff all very friendly. Breakfast was good. Would stay again

Very relaxed and homely feel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The best Christmas decorations we have ever seen in a hotel! Room was very clean and a good size. Food was excellent.

A quiet but active and cosy hotel perfect for a visit to Hull.

The hotel has a friendly ambiance and the staff were exceptional. One felt very "at home". It was quiet, it was clean, the bedroom was spacious and equipped with all that one needed. They offer a variety of freshly cooked breakfasts which were most satisfying.

These are minor points. The bathroom had an electric shower which does he job but personally isn't my favourite. And the breakfast coffee could have been a little stronger - or served as a cafetiere perhaps?

A lovely stay in a most welcoming, cosy hotel. I definitely recommend it.

All the staff were very welcoming, helping to create a very warm atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent as were the meals that I purchased on some of the evenings, especially the haddock and chips as recommended by the Princess Royal! (A guest in 2023). The location is excellent, on a very quiet street in the north of the city, but within easy walking distance of all city attractions and the railway station. The hotel is adjacent to the New Clarence, Hull's only community-owned pub, which is an excellent facility for a beer without having to travel far! I'd been given a free upgrade to an executive room on my arrival which was lovely - very spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a distinctive, cosy and homely feel, a change from staying in one of the chain hotels.

The only criticism I have is that the bathroom could do with upgrading. A shower over the bath where the water temperature is controlled by mixer taps is a little outdated, and it took some time most mornings to get the temperature right, veering from very cold to scorching! An investment in stand alone modern power showers would be a great improvement.

A lovely hotel

The location is excellent for Hull New Theatre, right across the square. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean with all amenities available. Breakfast was lovely and good value for money considering there was fruit, cereal and toast available, in addition to the full cooked breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The room became quite warm in the night and there was restricted opening on the windows but, this was a minor issue.

The Shower in the room I was in needs some instructions and a service. It was very difficult working out how to use it. However this is one minor issue - otherwise excellent, good value for money and I will certainly stay there again.

The breakfast was excellent,with helpful experienced staff. Location was good for exploring central Hull on foot thanks to the vouchers for parking in the street

The lovely bathroom in our upgraded room did not smell fresh on arrival. Very hot water made the shower difficult to adjust to comfortable temperature.

A pleasant,peaceful place to stay yet close to the heart of the city.

Room was lovely, loads of space as we had a free upgrade. English breakfast was good, kept us full all day. The outlook from our room over the square was pleasant and it was quiet and peaceful.

A longer walk from the station than I thought (I should have checked) but worth it when we arrived.

Victoria suite was great large and comfortable bathroom spacious only negative comment for the facilities needed power shower not the one fitted as no power and temperature hard to get right either too hot or cold.

It was very cold in the room. After raising this we were brought a plug in heater which helped but there was no heating in the bathroom on a very cold morning. The room was very dated and the bed not to our liking comfort wise. It would have been good to know there was no food available on a Sunday,
