I stayed on the dorms, there is no option for a female only dorm, that would be nice And the bed was very hard

The worst hostel I have ever been to will never return

Breakfast was wonderful, very large selection from yogurt to cold cuts to fresh breads, I even saw them bringing it from a bakery. The staff was wonderful and the location is OK. AC works

Management couldn’t care less about any of the problems that arose. The booking was completely misleading- it was not clear that “ mixed dormitory bed” meant sharing the room with 15 other people. Everything pretty much was a lie. The facilities were in such bad repair, uncomfortable furniture, tacky, several lights in the main hall reception flickering needing replaced as well as locks on doors in dire need of attention: the only bathroom for 16 people was not working and so when you locked the door, you could then not get out… I was locked in for more than a half hour. So taking a public shower where anyone could just walk in was the hostel’s solution. I had requested assistance directly with the hotel before posting this and still the only thing they wanted to tell me was that all the information was online… a.k.a. not help and not refund not offer any solution. Extremely overpriced not worth it at all.

Good but check pricing

Nice, clean place, breakfast looked okay but unfortunately my experience was ruined by being made to pay more due to having my partner with me.

Unfortunately I was made to pay nearly twice the price again for my room as I had my partner with me, even though I was able to pull up booking.com in front of the receptionist, and show that the room was the same price for 1 or 2 people. There are no extra sheets to wash etc and we didn't have breakfast. Would have enjoyed staying here if it wasn't for that. Trying to resolve through booking.com

Basic cheap room that suited our needs

Great location in Botofogo. Property secure with 2 outside locking doors. Room basic but spacious. It is just a basic room but this reflected in the price. Bed comfortable. A few reviews noted stained sheets but this appears to have been rectified as ours were fine.. Would recommend requesting room 107 as this one does have a window to outside. The breakfast down at the other hotel was excellent and staff there very friendly and helpful.

There is a musty smell possibly from the bathroom that came and went we dealt with it by opening the window The cleaning service to empty bins and supply clean towels didn’t come on two of the days but we managed.

Well located place in Rio with no extras in either accommodations or customer service.

HMG BNB is well located in Botofogo.

Rooms are quite small with no natural light coming in. The sitting area pictured is in a common area. Hosts were unaccommodating when we asked for either a place to store our luggage after check out and before our flight, or for a one hour later check out time. Unfortunately in a busy and large city like Rio this sadly cut our vacation short.

Very good

Cheap and good location, no problems with the staff, not too dirty (I'm picky). Only the floor made my socks dirty. A lot of wifi networks all over the place to make sure we can connect to something (only social network use).

Low key definitely, old equipment, and felt very, very basic, not like on the photos. Also no window, probably we missed this info. Yes, stains on the bedsheets, but you can see they were washed. Kitchen lady snoring with her nose during all the time of the breakfast, made the experience quite disgusting - but it seems to be the culture here. Old oatmeal (from the smell), probably not too popular among guests. The rest of the breakfast was good, varied and complete (buffet).

We really enjoyed our stay. We were worried because some reviews were not good but actually the place was very nice. Comfortable and clean. The breakfast was nice. The people were welcoming.

Great location - Missing details

The internet was down for the last few days of my stay. They offered to switch me to the other building where reception was (and they knew internet was working), but I decided it wasn’t worth packing up all of my stuff again. The address doesn’t match the Booking site. There are 2 addresses. One for reception and one of the room. It’s about 40-60 seconds walking. I got spammed with a bunch of long messages/advertisements in Portuguese when I booked. Most of the information can be ignored except one piece: It was difficult to find the actual addresses where I needed to go for the keys and then the other address for entry. It should just be posted as the address on Booking’s website. The doors to enter each building are very tiny. You can open the second half of the door from the inside.

Café da manhã divino, o local todo é muito limpo, parece um hotel mas com quarto compartilhado, diferente de muito hostel por aí! fornecem toalhas sabonete travesseiro, tudo! os funcionários muito atenciosos, além de permitirem utilizar o espaço para deixar as malas antes do check in.

El desayuno es muy bueno!!! la ubicación también. las camas limpias.

Primero hubo una confusión con la información que figuraba en la pagina web sobre el horario del desayuno y la información que me dieron por ws. Despues igual no tuve problemas. Por otro lado la dirección que figura en booking está mal, y la entrada a la recepción es media cuadra antes. Hubo un poco de ruido en la habitación por una construcción que hay al lado y por los huespedes.

Buena relación calidad-precio

El desayuno buffet es muy sabroso y abundante, el personal es amable, nos dejaron guardar las maletas para hacer el check in más tarde y la ubicación es excelente porque a pocos metros se encuentran bares, restaurantes, tiendas y una estación de metro.

La entrada a la habitación era un poco angosta, lo que dificultó un poco el ascenso con las maletas. Había una leve fragancia de humedad que provenía del baño (nada que no se resolviera cerrándolo) y si llovía muy fuerte había una pequeña gotera (a nosotros no nos incomodaba).

El desayuno es lo que resalta del lugar. La habitación era súper amplia, contaba con una heladera frigobar, aire acondicionado funcionando a la perfección, la cama muy cómoda, una sala de estar muy pintoresca con balcón y una vista increíble al Cristo.

No es que no me gustó, pero lo único no tan positivo fueron las escaleras de la entrada

Atendimento sem pró atividade. Café da manhã com visíveis uso de produto reaproveitado e pouquíssima variedade. Check-in e checkalt inflexível. Banheiro com box com vidro quebrado. Fedor forte de fumaça nas dependências do hotel, não possuem estacionamento, quartos para cinco pessoas com um único banheiro.
