Run down, dark and dirty.

Yoo2 was a complete disappointment. I did not like anything, and I had reason to compare because I was in Ipanema, in Rio de Janeiro, the first 3 days in a boutique hotel that was tiny but spectacular in every aspect.

I expected a nice boutique hotel and I found a run down, dark and dirty one. The bathroom was basic, black mold all over it and terrible quality appliances. The furniture of the room and doors also showed damage, even the front desk of the hotel, showed damage. The mattresses felt cheap and the bed sounded of metal with every move. The lights in the room and all over the place are dimmed low... so everything is very dark. Other areas of the Hotel were also of poor quality and the suposedly wonderful Rooftop was run down and cheap looking. The service at the Front desk was slow and with terrible attitude most of them as though they were doing you a favor and you were bothering them. Lastly, the water is not drinkable and they do not leave courtesy water in the room and the breakfast was really poor.

Breakfast, the bed, overall cleanliness

Objectively, only the rooms with views of Sugarloaf Mountain or Botafogo Beach feel worth the price. The others are quite underwhelming for the rate. The rooftop bar closing at 11 p.m. is also surprising, especially considering how spectacular the view is and how much more enjoyable it would be to spend time there later in the evening with food or drinks. On the positive side, the breakfast is excellent. However, if your room doesn’t include a view, the overall experience feels closer to a three-star hotel at best.

Rio by day very nice Rio by night- be careful

Location was very good. Breakfast was good. Rooftop restaurant menu was limited but tasty food. Excellent views from the rooftop of sugar loaf mountain and Christ the redeemer. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Rooms very basic and small at best a 3 star in comparison to UK hotels.

Wonderful.

Views. Exceptional front reception staff, recommending tours, lending an adaptor. Especially chaps on the morning shift. Large room. Clean. Fresh towels. Great cotton sheets. Large Comfortable bed. Roof top bar. Water and a chocolate left in the room each evening. Breakfast was great, fresh fruits, juices, detox drinks, dietary requirements catered for. Room service good.

Not a dislike but to improve, kettle in the room to make tea.

Excellent hotel. The staff were lovely. The breakfast had great choice. The beds were super comfortable. We had a great view out of our bedroom window.

It lacked on the amenity front. The cotton buds/pads were never replaced. There were only small bars of soap to wash yourself with. The pool was very cold but we did go in their off-season.

Perfect place to stay in Rio

I visit Rio frequently, and this was my first time staying at this hotel. Unfortunately, we got off on the wrong foot due to an IT error that caused issues at the restaurant—twice. However, the staff was extremely polite and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The location is perfect, right in front of one of Rio’s most beautiful beaches. Will come back!!

The hotel is in a perfect location, right in front of the Sugarloaf Mountain, and the staff was very attentive and provided all the support we needed. Additionally, the room was very clean, well-organized, had a good size, and met all our needs.

The shower leaked a little water onto the bathroom floor.

I do not recommend it and I warn you !!! We made hotel reservations for 3 days via booking.com. We arrived at the hotel late at night very tired. The front desk charged the full amount of the reservation (over $500) to my Visa card upon entry. We couldn't assess the situation in the room immediately after entering. In the morning it turned out that the duvet under which we slept was covered only with two sheets and not a full duvet cover. We saw that we had slept under a dirty, smelly rag stained in many places, probably with blood and urine. Original photos. Additionally, we were bitten by lice or fleas that jumped around the room. I am attaching photos of the bitten legs. The hotel corridor smelled strongly of urine. In the morning we went to the reception to file a complaint. We were offered a room upgrade (the same room only with a sea view), without the possibility of viewing it in advance. Our offer to reduce the room rate was not accepted. The entire negotiation took us 3 hours. The staff hardly speaks English. Due to the whole situation, we decided to immediately change our place of stay, but unfortunately the hotel staff refused to refund us the fee for the next two nights. We hope that they will change their mind after booking.com's intervention.

Exceptional

The rooftop and the view was gorgeous. It was definitely the highlight of the hotel. They also had a DJ once and it made the environment really fun. I have to mention the breakfast; it was delicious and with lots of variety. The staff working at breakfast was specially very kind. There was a man who kindly remembered that I taken ice in a cup to make my own iced coffee and the next morning, he brought it for me without me asking for it. It made my morning! I would say it’s in the details that it influences your positive experience.

great location and amazing staff - so friendly and accommodating. very nice roof top bar and views of both Sugar loaf and Christ the Redeemer specific thank you and amazing shout out to Gabrielle from the front desk who really looked after us and made us feel extremely special guests when we arrived early from long flight to evening drinks, information on getting around and just being so helpful and friendly! really made us feel so welcome to Rio!! amazing and please tell him how amazing he was!

It was described as a five star hotel but it was not. It is like a regular 3 star guest house. No lobby, small room, no meeting place, poor entering gate and no enough amenities.

It was OK for one night.

The receptionist was extremely friendly and arranged transport from the airport to the hotel at the last minute. Staff in general were very friendly.

After making the reservation I received an email almost every day asking me to upgrade my room. I made one upgrade and still kept receiving upgrade requests. The upgraded room was very small and inconvenient with no view to speak of. Breakfast was mediocre and served downstairs rather than at the most beautiful part of the hotel which is the rooftop.
