Cloudy Hill Cottage

We had an outstanding stay at the Cloudy Hill Cottage. This accomodation is truly a gem in the calm hills of Ella. While it is very close to the vibrant city center (5 min via Tuk Tuk), the cozy cottage offers a relaxing experience with a beautiful view. The family owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amongst the best we had our whole trip. The cooking class which we did with Renu‘s brother was a very unique experience. Thank you for all you support while we stayed with you!

We stayed in Cloudy Hill for two nights amidst the occasional rains and true to its name, the hotel was superbly beautiful as a view point of the hills and valley in front with clouds passing through. The room was clean with decent amenities, the staff was polite and helpful and the breakfast was very good. Also they waved off a 3% surcharge on my bill that tourists have to bear when paying by card. Overall I left as happy customer.

Less to do with the stay itself and more with the area in which the place is located - water pressure in the shower is low(probably to do with the elevation) and limited food options nearby(there's Freedom Cafe nearby but its food is quite average, have to take a 5 min rickshaw/tuk tuk ride to town).

The location is beautiful, amazing views and very peaceful.

Wi-Fi didn't work well in the room. But they tried to fix it.

Very helpful host, checked with us to make our stay very comfortable. Ever helpful. Clean and tidy accommodation with mountain view. Breakfast was fantastic including fruits, yoghurt, egg, Sri Lankan pancakes, toast etc. Any issue we raised with the host, was fixed immediately. A comfortable stay and a very hospitable host made our stay wonderful in Ella. If we come to Ella we will definitely book the Cloudy Hill Cottage. Thank you.
