Such a privilege to stay in an authentic Machiya! Thanks to the owner for making it available to tourists! We were a party of 7 and there was plenty room for us. Check in from Kyoto station was easy to find and staff fluent English speakers.
There was nothing to not like if this the experience you are looking for. Tatami mats on floor were a bit hard for some!

Traditional and modern.
Narrow and steep stairs. Not much room to open luggage. Check-in location separate from house

Bath was incredibly difficult to use due to the technology in Japanese. Washing machine also in Japanese, not enough coffee provided. One pillow provided and had to ask for more, towels are too small and very low quality as they don’t dry you.
Panels on the toilet had fallen off and were on the floor in the downstairs toilet, clothes airer was broke .
