Great communication - keys and clear instructions left for out of hours checkin. Room spotlessly clean. Fridge in room, although could have been colder as could the air con. Good breakfast. Pool area spacious with pool towels provided. Quiet - could not really hear any other guests. Walking distance to Lucca. Some beautiful pieces of old furniture around communal areas. Small but adequate bathroom with plenty of hot water. Ample free off road car parking. Felt extremely safe in local area as in Lucca.

No drinking glasses in the room. Mattress could have been comfier. An honesty bar would have been nice. On some days all sun beds were in use. Would have preferred buffet breakfast rather than every item being served, although staff were always attentive.

The breakfast was excellent and surpassed our expectations. Catered for all tastes and staff were really friendly. The location was good, although we did only do the walk into the centre of town once. It took around 30 minutes and was too hot at the time we were there. The local taxi service though was excellent and we used it all throughout the week in the evenings for dinner in town. Always arrived within less than 10 minutes of calling. The pool was a real bonus especially for the kids and to cool off! Great base also for sightseeing in the area. We travelled to Florence by train from Lucca and visited other places by car.

The only disappointment really was that the advertised bar didn’t exist. It would have been a welcome addition particularly on days where we’d been out and about and didn’t want to go into town for the evening. We did sit outside at the tables (used for breakfast) one evening with a bottle of wine and plastic glasses we bought at the supermarket which was ok, but not what we’d expected.

We loved the pool and sitting out on our terrace on the comfy chairs provided . The breakfast was excellent , cooked fresh to order with very good coffee and lovely to eat it alfresco . The staff are lovely , so friendly and helpful . Room is rustic but kept lovely and clean . We enjoyed our stay in this fascinating old property.

No kettle to make drinks in room . It’s walking distance to Lucca ( about 20mins flat ) & whilst it’s lovely to get away from the crowds, it feels like hard work when it’s very hot . No restaurants close by but many to choose from in Lucca .

The location was supposed to be close to Lucca. You could not comfortably walk.

There was a terrible sewer smell in the bathroom. Unbearable.
