Convenient hotel with modern facilities

We had a superior room, which was spacious and modern. The bathroom had a separate shower and a bath, which we appreciated. The bed was good. The catering staff were very attentive and helpful. The location near the station suited our needs. Breakfast was good and not busy. I would have liked scrambled egg, perhaps porridge, to be on offer.

We were told beforehand that there was no air conditioning but found it strange for a modern hotel not to have any temperature control or heating in operation. I hope they fix it soon. There seemed to be a slight problem with drainage in the bathroom. The shower temperature control could not be turned down but upon reporting this at checkout, the receptionist started to take action. The toilet was entirely separate from the shower and sink, which made washing hands after using the toilet very cumbersome.

Not bad for the price but was expecting better overall.

Location, nice little pool and gym, price for a half board deal. Good burger, quiet room.

Room too hot even in feb with the window open, a bit cramped and getting a bit worn here and there. Smoke alarm light flashed at night annoying everyone. Breakfast was probably designed by accountants - cheap watered down orange juice, cheap bread etc. £8 for a pint of Stella, is being a bit greedy.

A complete nightmare!!

Clean rooms. Good staff.

Was kept awake until 3am, by guests singing, shouting, running up and down the corridor. Doors continually slamming all night. I would have got more sleep if I had slept in my car in the car park. I seriously considered it. Not happy. Would not stay again on a Saturday night. Hotel not at fault apart perhaps the walls being too thin.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have breakfast because I had to leave earlier, but I ate fish and chips, which were absolutely delicious. The location was great.

Convenient hotel next to West Quay. Easy parking. Dog-friendly.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Room was clean and quiet. Handy car park (register at reception and pay £12). We chose this hotel as it is dog friendly (in bar & for surcharge in room). I was pleased that there was a mini fridge in the room with drinking water supplied. Late check-out options were helpful. We will stay again.

Bed was very firm so it wasn’t a very comfortable sleep. Room is practical but decoration and bedding is not luxurious. Tiny wardrobe and no hooks in room to hang our wet coats.

Value for money an friendly staff

The staff were great. Because of a late flight time and bad weather outside, we hung around in reception for most of the afternoon. We were given teddies and a colouring book to keep our daughter entertained ☺️

Middle of the road

It has the basic facilities

Located at a retail location. Very standardised hotel with plastic curtains and no room service. More expensive for breakfast than other hotels and this hotel could with a refurbishment as it’s quite dull. The centralised heating did not come on in my room and very cold. The staff sent a heater but it wasn’t sufficient. The staff are friendly but limited with how they can help. I should have been offered a room upgrade or breakfast for the inconvenience. The restaurant offers a basic menu it’s not special or à la carte or dinner specials for its guests. It’s certainly not 4 stars, it’s probably a 3 star at best.

Not the best, but staff were really nice

Staff was really nice, location was good, toilet was broken but the staff was really helpful and got it fixed really fast

Certain parts especially the curtains, carpets and other parts were quite dirty, the room light was dim and not well lit, the bathroom exhaust fan was really loud. Got some bites on my neck, not sure if there were bed bugs. Overall its a good hotel especially that the staff were really nice and willing to help.

No hairdryer in room and there could have been biscuits on the complimentary tray. No hot water coming through in the morning so we couldn't shower.

Nothing to fault it, but I didn’t have a car with me. Think it could be a bit pricey for more than one night’s parking so check that out before you book.

Clean Rooms and at very good location just 1/2 mile to town centre.

Rooms might need an upgrade. Air Conditioning or heating is not working as intended. Tried to adjust the Hot temperature but it never worked and have to spend full night covered with sweat

A good choice

I like the location close to the cruise terminal and the West Quay shopping centre. The room was very clean and comfortable and good value for money. I have stayed here four times and will do so again.

Shopping visit

Simple check in process online saving time. Lovely room and facilities and breakfast was good value.

The only comment I have was that the barman who served us at about 5.30pm on Saturday 6th was a sarcastic in response to question on availability of certain wines. Not what you expect when all we wanted was a nice drink before going out for the evening. There was absolutely no need for that kind of behaviour.

Lift access from ground floor difficult operate with room card. Not happy with tap in wash basin in bathroom, prone to knocking your head when leaning over to wash face.

We stayed for an awards night 190 people and the bar service was shocking. Run out of Guinness the night before and didn’t re stock, £18 for a breakfast and most of the breakfast items were not cooked, had to ask for knife forks and spoons no cups for drinks as well Terrible customer service

Good place to stay if going to the Mayflower for a show

Good sized room. Big and comfortable beds. Plenty of space to put my things. Sensible room lay out. Efficient and friendly check in.

The air conditioning wasn't working properly and as a result the room was cold (first cold day of the season - maybe the system has not yet been fully turned on). It was noisy - shouting in the corridor and an adjacent room well after midnight. Last time I stayed at Novotel parking was free so disappointed that it is now £12.
