Thornton Manor Estate

Wow, what an amazing historical estate! We were a family group with an 11, 12 and 13 year olds. We booked the House Keepers Cottage which had a kitchen, big dining table, tv and sofa downstairs. Upstairs 3 good sized rooms, Kingsize double with ensuite, double and twin rooms, plus bathroom. Easy self check in. Walked the amazing grounds...Secret Walled Garden, Massive Lake and open lawns looking up to the main manor house. Easy to get Ubers from to Parkgate restaurants! 5 mins from Heswall and 15 mins from Cheshire Oaks. Excellent value for money.

Perfect location for the event we attended, comfortable and cosy room. Great response rate from staff and very kind communication.

It would be nice to have a coffee machine (eg nespresso) and some better quality tea.

Great property, everything we needed, we were staying for work, it was clean the parking was great and easy communication. We will be back.

Clean sheets on the bed

The door handle to the ground floor bedroom came off in your hand. The kitchen is tiny and cramped and as you need to prop the bedroom door open with a chair virtually in accessible when they are more than two people in the room. The cooker has no legible indications for temperature or exact hob you are trying to use so you literally have to touch them to find out if they are actually on and hope you have put it on at the right temperature. The grilled pan in the oven was so dirty that the room filled with smoke when we eventually found out how to turn the oven on. I called to ask for details of taxis or takeaways well in advance. I was assured of a response but never received one. Although the property looks clean, the floors were dirty and dog hairs embedded in the rug in the kitchen. There is one bedroom with two beds locked together to form a double in what was presumably the original sitting room on the ground floor and a small kitchen with six chairs, but it is not possible to sit round the table because it is so small. On the second floor there is another bedroom with two single beds put together and a bathroom to the bedroom with a bath. There is a walk-in shower that is accessed from the stairs. Up a further steep spiral stair case there is a further bedroom in the eaves with two single beds. The water pressure in this property is terrible. You cannot have more than one tap running and it is extremely slow. All around very disappointing but served its purpose. I would never stay here out of choice again.
